I thought samsung welcomes rooting? It is only the carriers that force samsung to lock it.

If someone finds an exploit it is a win win for Samsung.

Must be because Samsung leaked OS's all the time. I dont know why carriers care. I think T-Mobiles is rootable.

----------

Samsung has Knox....which is built-in security if it is tripped voids warranty. not sure but pretty sure any exploits will void warranty.

I forgot about Knox. I didnt had knox on my GS3 and i havent bought a GS4 or 5. If you can root a Tmo GS5 without tripping Knox, i think id just delete it.

True. But samsung doesn't make it difficult for you to root if you want to but only at the expense of warranty.
That's quite fair I think. You can't expect them to honour warranty if you messed around with the phone.

If my hardware breaks and has nothing to do with the software - they should honour the warranty. Simple.

Jamez - is the octo version any better at memory management or is it still quite heavy ? Any interest on Swappa ?

It seems to be snappier......It is a little faster than the US S5 anyway. Its not as fast as my M8 though......
A guy is said he was adding funds to his PayPal account and he was going to buy it today. Not sure though......it usually takes a few days to add funds to a PayPal account.....

I agree with you.......it I root and flash a rom and then say my speakers stop working. Well the root should not void the repair of my speakers.

Hi jamezr,
Does it come with LTE model? is it going to be 3g only.

Hi jamezr,

It sold on swappa this morning. It never says LTE beacuse it is an international phone and LTE is just in the US. But it seem to get the same speeds as any other phone on AT&T.

Supported bands are: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100

Just a little correction, G900H is not an LTE model and only supports the bands you just listed, but it's incorrect to say that LTE is just in the US. There are plenty of networks in the EU, Australia and Asian countries. In the EU the Galaxy S5 variant is called G900F and it supports GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 and LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600.

Anyway, I personally won't expect a great CM11 support for the G900H because the chipset differs so much from the other variants.

Looks like root is here for s5 note 3 and more

No correction needed.....I never said it was capable of LTE. In fact I posted the bands it does support. But i was wrong about LTE only in the US......

I also saw this on Android Police and am intrigued, I have never rooted any of my devices and might root my Nexus 5, what benefits would you think I might see please. :)

I have a question about Swappa. I just sold something on there for the first time. You know how you set up the sale item and it says ....like mine for instance, it said $85 and it listed for $95 because shipping was supposed to be factored in? ....and the list price was $95.

Well when it sold, i only got a deposit for $85 minus another $3.82 for fees. What happens to that extra $10 it was listed at and showing $95 as my sale price? Am i missing something here?

EDIT**

After checking, i see the $10 is their selling fee. I get $85, minus Paypal fees and they get $10. Just thinking if that is worse than eBay fees but i doubt i would of got that much on eBay so i dont know. As i said, It was my first time using Swappa.

The buyer pays the $10 for the swappa fee. You the seller has to pay PayPal fees.........you have to factor in shipping in the price...then swappa adds $10 to your price. But the buyer pays the $10....so you never see that part of the transaction.

Oh... I would of asked a bit more if I knew that but that's OK.
So if I buy a phone and it is listed for $185, I actually pay $185 but the seller gets $175? Or are the fees more the higher the price is? What was your fee to Swappa for your $500 GS5?
I'm just trying to see if it is worth it to sell things on there as opposed to eBay.

Rooted my AT&T S5, can't get any easier than this with Geo's Root app.
I guess, awesome phone got more awesome. Is it as simple as downloading and installing apk file? Then we can delete all the bloatware right?
Any issues with ATT/Samsung in honoring warranty requests.

It is really simple, yes.

I'm throwing a party and you should come **GS5 ROOT THREAD**

KNOX is not tripped, so I doubt there will be any issues with warranty as long as you unroot before submitting the device for warranty if needed.

There is no fee to sell on swappa. The buyer pays a $10 fee. So when you list an item for say $500 swappa adds $10 so the price to buyers shows as $510 because they actually pay the $10 swappa fee. Does that make sense now?

Yep....thanks for explaining. Thats not bad but it wasnt real clear when i listed the item, or maybe i didnt read it enough. Probably the latter ;)

Ive been using eBay for 13 years so this was different.

How easy is to unroot S5 and bring it back to orignla state (factory reset) in case of any warranty related exchange. Do i need to change run time back to dalvik before/after rooting.
Thanks.

Does root make the S5 any faster? I would not have kept it if I felt is was a lagfest but I like icing on the cake.

How bout switching to ART? Does that help with speed?
