Thats Apple for you. I've been ranting about the exclusion of Blu ray, HDMI, and Esata for a LONG time.

For some reason, Apple thinks all of these useful options are "not appropriate" for their $2K plus laptops.

Sigh...at least I'LL HAVE Blu ray!

Well I have a mini displayport to hdmi adapter and it works just fine.

Just wanted to update this post. I finally got my Panasonic UJ-225 Blu ray burner/reader in! I installed it into my early 20008 17" macbook Pro. And it works like a charm! I'm in the process of installing windows and Power DVD Ultra to get Blu ray reading up and running. I'll update more soon!

Okay, so i installed the drive and it fits! No sweat! I installed Windows XP, Power DVD Ultra 9 trial version. Inserted a Blu ray and they started up. Load time is a bit lengthy. But if your used to normal blu ray load times its fine.

PROBLEM! I get stuttering video playback after a few seconds. It seems things aren't cache-ing fast enough. So video and audio playback stutters! I can't seem to figure it out. Don't know if its a windows XP or the connector within the laptop!
