So first we have the new MBPs that people are paying a hefty premium for where there is not even a single usbc to lightening cable in the box.

Now we find out that the $150 headphones dont even include a GD charging block with it.

I think Apple has become stingy. They'd rather collect $19 now than keep millions of customers for a lifetime.

Sorry, but did you actually think you were getting free stuff in the instances where Apple included an accessory? No, you still paid for that. These things are wrapped up in the purchase price. Don't be so naive.

There is that big chunck on top of the actual price called margin. They can easily put 4 adapters into the box without it costing you anything and only costing Apple $4. Don't be so naive.

Supply and demand plus price elasticity.
Of course Apple could throw that stuff in and they should just like Microsoft could ad the type cover to the already pricey sp4.

So how many Bluetooth earphones on the market come with a power adapter?
These are not standalone product and are useless without a phone or a media device so manufacturers decided from day one not to include a power adapter. It's not about Apple being greedy.

Calling ******** that if you want the Airpods you don't already have a lightning cable to connect to your computer or a wall charger that can be used with the included cable.

The AirPods should have came with a charging brick.. I mean c'mon Apple, seriously?

Apple is skimping more and more.. I guess on the bright side, they did toss a headphone dongle into the iPhone 7 box.. LOL

You know a product is a success when the trolls ran out of ideas.

No, they can't/don't. It's all factored in. If they are going to include an adapter/cable/etc then they account for how much money they are losing by not selling that cable individually. That cost then gets spread out over the cost of all devices, other devices, etc. In the end it's getting paid for.

Apple are far from the only company to not include power supplies with accessory type items (such as headphones) and IMO it's a good thing as it reduces waste and means you only need one SKU worldwide rather than one for each region.

I have a drawer full of USB power supplies (as, I suspect, do many other people) and it's wasteful for manufacturers to supply them if they're not needed. We keep hearing how bad e-waste is but when manufacturers (and I'm talking about all manufacturers, not just Apple) do something to address it people still complain!

They certainly can, which is the whole point. The can give you a bunch of adapters without it costing you anything. They did with the iPhone, it has an adapter included. They make billions, they can add a bunch of adapters and make a million or two less. It is a choice they make, a greedy one like OP said.

I only came to Apple in the mid-naughties but they have been getting stingier and stingier since.

iPods used to come with a case, power adapter, USB and firewire cables, AV cables and a dock.
iPhones used to come with a dock
Macs used to come with a remote control

In the last few years Apple have crossed the line from charging a premium to full-on nickel and diming. To be sure they should have included on USB-C to USB-A dongle with the MBP. They hoped that their users wouldn't care an snap up a handful of $20 cables and a great profit margin as they normally would, but this time they got called out on it by the press hence the price cut to <$10. Apple have speant years and years building their reputation, but once they loose it, the ability to charge a premium will go along with it.

They can also throw acid in your face.

You're ignoring the point I made. Apple can give you free cables. It's not about what they can do. It's about what any company, including Apple, can reasonably be expected to do. No company, including Apple, just gives away free stuff without accounting for the cost of materials, shipping, etc. What's realistically an option is to include a charging brick with the AirPods, for example, and account for the cost by increasing the price of the AirPods or compensating for the cost in some other way (buying a cheaper part for the AirPods, etc). Since most people already have some kind of charging brick, there's no point in having everybody pay for one either directly or indirectly.

Does it sound like we did?
Yes

I only came to Apple in the mid-naughties but they have been getting stingier and stingier since.

They make less money from computers and more from portable devices and accessories now. There is some stinginess involved but bear this in mind:

The company was called Apple Computer.

It's now just Apple.

It's a shifted business because populations are more and more relying on their computers, gadgets and accessories being mobile.

So Apple doesn't need to invest heavily in creating new desktop machines and monitors every year.

It doesn't need to invest heavily in iPhone/iPod docks that people won't use. Now people sync in the cloud instead of at their desk. They expect all the gadgets they carry to be wirelessly synced at all times, and that means less cables.

We may soon see iPhones shipping that can charge and sync without cables. You'll see dozens of cry babies (at times I will be one of them) online and clickbait YouTube reviews mocking Apple's decisions. But Apple are the ones with the labs and prototypes. They make decisions based on future outlooks and industrial progress. They need to balance appeasement and pushing frontiers. They can't make everyone happy.

Umm, just about any of them? All of my Sony ones did.

Yes

Well, I didn't buy these ripoffs.

They removed the ports, it is reasonably to be expected that they include adapters. Others do so too. My head phones came with a large jack, they included a adapter to mini-jack. They removed the jack on my iPhone, they included a mini jack-adapter. The motherboards I bought came with DVI adapters. All premium product I've bought came with reasonable adapters for standards still in use. My Macbook Pro 2011 included an adapter. Apple just started nickel and diming people to the MAX and you are prasing them for it, like it is a good thing for you.

Personally find it hilarious, Apple`s tactics are so blatantly obvious they now have everyone paying "piecemeal" and people are supporting it :p as my father would say "fools and their money" Solid business rational as such accessories have tremendous margins. If all the users stood their ground all the adaptors/dongles & power extensions would be in the box, thing is Apple knows all to well that will never be the case...

I'd rather they reduce the cost another $20 and leave more **** out of the box. Like the lightning cable. I mean who around here doesn't have several power bricks and lightning cable around the place already.

As an investor and a long time Apple user, I'm fine with what Apple is doing. Stock was 94 buck a share 6 months ago and today its 117. Keep up the good work Apple.

Apple goes on about its ethics, but when it comes to profiteering those ethics go out of the window. They seem obsessed with making as much profit as possible.

I look forward to the day when there is a principle higher than that of making money.

It's going to be a long wait, relying on principles from a multinational corporation is a fools errand.
