The majority of complaints seem to be saying the iOS is laggy and slow etc, Just a question for those with the new iPhone 5S. Are you guys experiencing the same thing?

I think with the A7 & M7 this must cut out the lag surely?

I got an 5S since yesterday and oh boy, that thing is so blazingly fast and smooth, came from a 5 where it was a bit laggy and stuff really awkward tho.

I have an iphone 5 and it is not laggy but pretty smooth all the same.

Every day I unlock ios 7 it becomes more and more refreshing.. Folders, calendar and the music app still piss me off a little but the home screen just looks so damn tidy. That green nebula wallpaper and parallax on 4S and ipad mini rock. Gush over. :)

Every time I unlock iOS 7 it becomes more and more annoying that I have to wait for the stupid fade in before I can do anything. Or see what time it is. Hate that.

You must have a different iOS 7 - I can press the home button and view the time on the lock screen in about .5 seconds..

And the unlock animation isn't that slow..

I seen some Youtube videos of iOS 7 and for me, I don't like the visuals and appearance of iOS 7: how SMS looks like, the contrast, backgrounds, etc. It's personal preference. I also don't know how much of a resource hog it is. Nobody knows yet it is pretty easy to determine if you kept track of your RAM usge before and after the upgrading.

Aside from the lack if of info on the additional memory consumption, I won't be upgrading unless absolutely necessary due to the esthetics of iOS 7. I want to upgrade for the new security features but how it looks to me is the killer. If I dont have to upgrade, I wont. Aside from that, I can't say anything negative about iOS 7, mainly because I haven't used it.

What don't you like specifically about the aesthetics? I think the Messages app looks beautiful.

Not quite, but close

Night mode for apps with white background.
Customise control centre toggles
Quick reply from NC!!!!!
MPTCP toggle
Siri to read all books (a la speak selection without the tap and hold)

I doubt the M7 will help performance, from what i know its just for gathering data. iOS 7 needs more optimization which should come in future updates.

 Well every real life user I've met except one so far likes it. Most of the tech sites are quite positive on it as well.

Same here. I've talked with about a dozen people who have upgraded to iOS 7, and only one hates it. Everyone else likes it. While I don't think it's perfect (e.g., the 3x3 grid), I liked it it immediately, and it's grown on me even more over the past few days.

I don't understand the complaints about the time it takes for the animations to complete after unlocking. It's less than a second by my count, and I can't imagine what anyone would do in that second. However, I can understand that someone might not like animations, or the new look, because aesthetics are subjective.

Interesting observation. Other comments via tests show very little noticeable difference in performance in every day use (with the exception of games of course).

it is too "monochrome" if I can say that? Also the sms bubbles I no like. In fact, on my backup Android, I have the settings for SMS to emulate the iPhone.

I updated my mom's iPhone 4 today and it was awful compared to on my iPhone 5. The CC was troublesome and it wasn't performing too well. It wasn't noticeably bad outside of the CC getting stuck half way up the screen, then going too high, requiring two motions to drag it down. One to put it to where it should have been, where it stops on the downward swipe, then another downward swipe to (hopefully) fully close the CC.

On my iPhone 5 I've had no real issues. I read somewhere that to reduce the size of the "Other" portion of my data that I could do a factory reset, then restore my backup. This really slimmed down my data footprint. I guess it trimmed the fat. It's still restoring as I type, but I went from having 1.95GB free to 5.40GB free.

I was bracing for the worst. There's been so much whining about 7 it's really been unbelievable. Do you all need a hug? :)

I updated my IP5 and I don't see any of the "problems" people have noted. There is ZERO lag. The animation is incredibly fluid and flat out gorgeous.

All of my apps are present and the new UI is absolutely beautiful.

Access to the control settings is a bit different, but so what. I figure I'll just use the phone and get used to it over the next few days.

Again, I want to repeat.

1. the new UI is absolutely beautiful and sublime

2. the animation is incredibly fluid and gorgeous

3. the phone works perfectly.

4. All of my apps work perfectly.

5. There is no glaring difference between updated and non updated apps in appearance.

I am really embarrassed for this forum. We have all been misled to an extra-ordinary degree.

The update and install was flawless and the phone operates perfectly.

I reserve the right to come back and gripe if/when I find a bug or minor issue however. :) :) :)

If I'm a hater for not liking iOS 7 than you're a fanboy :)

You should say things like iOS 7 is perfect TO ME

"I" really like it

"I" think it's awesome

Read the MR Front Page - Tim Cook's statement - 200 million devices now running iOS 7…

How many whingers and moaners on here compared to 200 million??

Enough said….

People always update almost instantaneously, that does not mean it is well liked or perfect. Eitherway no way back unless on an iP4 with valid blobs. So the 200 million only says something about expectations not about the actual experience.

The complainers are indeed more vocal than the happy ones, but there is more complaining than usual.
Also Apple already update the 5C and 5S to 7.01 which is really quick. And they pulled the ATV update because of severe problems.

All in all it is far from perfect, but a lot of the issues is cosmetics. I do expect fairly quick updates to 7.x.

Its by no means perfect.

It's not that optimised, even on my 5S but by 7.1 I fully expect it too be. Apple are good at polishing things so shouldn't be too long before everything improves.

So in your opinion - if you had to pick a figure - how many of the 200 million do you think are unhappy with iOS 7?

No one has ever claimed that iOS 7 is perfect, even the people who love i OS7. But the issues it has are so minor and cosmetic that so much complaining and whinging is just too tedious to follow….. Animations lag by 0.01 microsecond - Music app taking 1 second too long to reach to desired album/song, Battery not lasting any longer then in iOS 6, etc... so many trivial issues….

The huge amount of negative threads on MR, is really unwarranted… but as they say bad & negative news, is the 'good news', so I guess moaning and whinging will continue…..

The update will polish off most of the trivial issues, I am pretty sure….

Some of these negative threads will still continue…. until iOS 8 is out and when they will turn on it and say how perfect iOS 7 was and how Apple screwed it up….

I just want the damn OK button when I enter my passcode to be on the lower half of the screen for my phone! Some app icons are just not right, Safari on the phone does not need that white surround. Same for iPhoto.

Didn't care for the change to mail where it takes the server unread numbers, as that gave me a bit of work to fix. Let alone reordering the icons when doing edit functions wasn't needed. Lastly, the new look is too "white". its blinding in low light. That whiteness is in far too many apps now and needs to be toned down

The Haters Are Wrong: iOS 7 is Perfect
Nothing is perfect. That said, always consider the source. There are always those that complain and the fanboys. The comments that are aligned with your own needs/wants/preferences/situation are the ones that will be relevant to you.

Not perfect at all!

I'm a big fan (iPhone4 & 5, 2 x Macbook Pro's, iPad3, iPad '4' [A6] and an iMac [latest version])
So, it quite painful to say 'if Apple is going to continue like this they are sure to lose market share!' - this would not have happened on Steve's watch!
iOS 7 on my iPad [A6 processor] works OK, bit 'laggy'; the problem comes with Safari! - Safari under iOS 7 has pathetic response! - and, yes, I have already cleared the history and the data as suggested by some forum members; this helped for 10 milliseconds and I was back to not just bad response - pathetic response making it totally unusable! I've had to load up Chrome again to have a workable iPad!

It is not just perfect. It is so gorgeous. Loving it each day!

Thanks a million Jony & team!

*Just waiting for my gold game-changing iPhone 5s order which we would make my experience even more magical!*

How can someone's hate toward a piece of software be wrong? Let's at least pretend to be adults here. :)
