It's a little different because SS models from luxury manufacturers are still aimed at luxury buyers. Not so with standard SS AW. Apple is marking up the Edition because of who they're intended for.

This is the point I'm making. Everything has a markup, but for an edition to have the exact same internals and cost 10x the SS or 25x the Sport, it is excessive. I find it hard to believe that a fine watch maker, would only make the material different, and mark it up so high (lets say we ignore the gold material costs for both the AW and other watch makers). Wouldn't they usually come with more complications, or something else to justify the mark up? Or simply, not make the same internals available in a lower end version and the higher end version?

Yes, it's excessive, but it is really no different from the excessive markup that luxury manufacturers impose on their SS watches consisting of basically the same internals as cheaper watches from lowly manufacturers.

Yes, but most $10k gold watches also don't have a <$1k version with the exact same internals... The reason most $10k gold watches are $10k is because of the internals, the Gold is just a fine coating...

Which $10K gold watch are you referring to? (for example)?

$10K is not money enough for a good gold watch AND good internals.
