Hello! I got my refurbished SR Macbook yesterday and the Airport connection was, quite frankly, rubbish. I downloaded the 10.5.2 update yesterday evening and my Airport connection has been nothing but fantastic. If you own a mac then you need this update

yeah.windows is excellent right now. My macbook never disconnects when booted into windows XP.

At home I have an AEBS. I didn't have problems before or after the update. My gf's house is where my problems were. They use a dlink over there. My computer would drop the connection every few minutes. Their windows laptop and my iphone have no issues whatsoever. I haven't been back to her house yet since I updated, but after reading some of these posts, I'm not too confident that the problem has been fixed. If it's still broke, I will simply turn on vmware and use windows. What a shame.

Hello,

I don't know if this helps but if for whatever reason I only get 2 or 3 bars on my Airport Express, what I do is close the lid of my macbook, wait a minute, open the lid and for some reason I get full bars and I can surf wirelessly with impunity! Try it out and see if it works for you

cheers,

mp:)

My internet seems to work a little better, but sites such as facebook just destroy my connection. Does anyone know why?

Hello! I got my refurbished SR Macbook yesterday and the Airport connection was, quite frankly, rubbish. I downloaded the 10.5.2 update yesterday evening and my Airport connection has been nothing but fantastic. If you own a mac then you need this update

I spoke to soon, as soon as I posted the above message my airport express conked out and I couldn't reconnect to the internet. That was 2 hours ago, it seems to work fine now but I'm wondering whether I should return my purchase - I got this macbook two days ago - and get a PC or something. Anyone feel the same?

The problem I have is that the connection will just fluctuate between 2 and 4 bars. Also, it appears to be scanning for new networks, and I often cannot load pages during that time.

This how I got WIFI back. D-Link Dir 625. I found it on Apple-Support-Discussions.

"Well... I have a MBP 2.33 and a Linksys wrt300n, and the wireless connection wasn't stable at all and I eventually had to switch the router to mixed B&G. After applying 10.5.2, I changed my router back to mixed (B&G&N) and I didn't get any issues (12 hours in a row - an all-time record)"

I just left mine on b&g. I'm just happy it works.

Well, looks like 10.5.2 didn't help me one bit. I was online surfing here and within 10 min I dropped my connection at my gf's house. Turning the airport off and back on fixes it. My situation hasn't changed one bit. Next time it drops it, I'm logging into XP. Say what you want about microsoft, but windows has never let me down with regard to dropping a wifi signal.

Im sad to hear that they did not fix the "n" problem and it sounds as if they made some aspects of it worse.

-sigh-
I will hold off on the update for now.

Hot damn I'm amazed. 10.5.2 actually fixed my Airport problems (self assigned IP). I lived with it for 2-3 months and now finally it connects 100% of the time now. Hell yes!

I'm currently having no problems w/ 10.5.1 ... So I'm not sure if I should update yet, let the "beta" tester work it out ;)

My problems... seem to be getting worse. I never had problems with Tiger but for some reason Leopard is crapping out on me WAY TOO OFTEN!!! GRRRR! Or it could be my 12 inch?

I repaired permissions, downloaded the combo update and installed on my MBPro this morning. The airport wireless connection is definitely more robust.

Early days yet, but I would have normally had a problem by now, so it is looking better than before.

All you people have been having problems with dropped connections? What did you do in the past/current to get the connection back? Did you have to restart, or did you unplug and plug back in your router?

My problems stemmed from two things originally. The first was a slew of Kernel Panics when using torrents and essentially putting a full strain on my airport. According to 10.5.2 list of bug fixes, they said they fixed the KP problem.

The second issue was that my AEBS would just drop from the list. The light would still be green, but I had to restart the AEBS (not my computer) and it be back on. This was a constant issue, and no true patterned showed except maybe again, strain on the airport transfer. During this time, I had no KPs all of a sudden.

I ended up disabling IPv6 on my router and it no longer dropped signal. However, the KPs came back, so I switched to ethernet connection. Anyone else experience this KP problem and has 10.5.2 fixed it?
