Please for the love of god, buy a zune or some other piece of crap to save the rest of us from paying $600 for our ipod touch 5G's next year. Apple hates you, they want you to go somewhere else.

I'll echo this, however in a much less toxic manner. I do believe you are being completely unreasonable, and I'll have to agree - simply return the device and purchase something else.

That may be a true statement, but YOU are an unreasonable customer.

After the 3rd "defective" unit, you should have just taken a refund and wait it out until Apple is able to meet your requirements for quality... but that would require that you NOT have an entitlement mentality that believes that you should have a flawless iPod Touch NOW.

I don't think he's being a unreasonable customer. So you think he should have kept his iPod Touch from the start even though it had problems such as a yellow tint.

I don't know what kind of consumer laws they have in the USA, but over here in the UK, we have laws that protect the customer from defective products and the customer has the right to return the product if it's faulty, no matter how minor the fault for a refund or a exchange.

Exactly? Where EXACTLY can you find other mp3 players with comparable capacities and capabilities? ...and cost LESS than the comparable iPod Touch.

Hmmm, I believe a company called "Archos" do iPod Touch-type devices that are comparable to them, if not better in some cases!:p

Well boo hoo hoo! Somebody has the balls to say that they've had major problems with their purchase, and a Steve Jobs worshipper like yourself can't accept that it's not as perfect as it should be!

Basically, what I'm trying to say is (in the immortal words of "The ****": "Get a Life!"

I'd have no problems paying a bit extra to get a product that has major improvements over this year's model, not minor improvements.

Got mine yesterday at walmart, there was only this 64 GB left so I bought it, there was something that looked like a big scratch around the speaker grills(maybe thats why no one bought it) but turned out it was just dust. No dead pixels, light leak, overheating problems here:)

oh, it sure is! Luckily you have made it clear now. I am more relievedly to buy one.

you people are insane. My iPhone had a light leak and it worked just fine for 2 years because I wasn't an obsessive ass driving up the prices for everyone else.

Why should he accept a faulty product?

No offense, but if you like to pay for crappy products, go do that. He's not unreasonable at all.

Else might as well get a used iPod instead of a brand new one if quality is not important.

Apple makes huge profits. They don't need to increase the prices for their lack of quality control.

Mine was perfect right out of the back ( 3rd gen though ), but if it had a light leak or an other issue, it would go back and they give me a new one.

This one has a screen that has a very slight yellow tint in the upper left corner, keeping it though and hoping it may go away over the next few weeks. This is still #7.

Maybe a little off topic, but could somebody explain to me, how these light leaks are possible? I had a 1g touch and now 2g and never heard about leaks before. Is something different in the construction of the 4g (besides the form) that they cannot manage to made the outside parts to fit perfectly.

All models, 2nd generation and up, have issues with light leaks. This is due to the process Apple uses of gluing the screens on. The 1st generation had the least cosmetic issues because instead of glue, the screens were screwed on. Apple started using glue to save money.

Also, the light leaks are more noticeable on the 4th generation because of the way type of border they used.

OP, IMO you are just too picky and perhaps a Foxconn-built product just isn't for YOU. (I've got a 4G and it's FINE)

Not to ruin your day. But I'd take that yeller sucker back. :)

Seriously, if you have to strain to see the yellow....IDK, maybe keep it. But if that YELLOW is screaming at you, take that shiny b**ch back.

PS. I don't think you are pushing this too far. If I were in your shoes I might do the same.

t.

to some folks, the issues the OP has had wouldn't be deemed "faults". It should be apparent (based on the NUMBER of touchs he's rejected) that he is too picky for this device to ever satisfy him.

Where on the iPT feature list does it list these 'faults' as features? I'll wait for you to check...and wait...and wait...

So I'm guessing these aren't features but instead called issues...

Here's an example - so what your saying is a kid who saves his lawn mowing allowance for a summer, dreaming every day of the iPT, is suppose to be happy w/ a product that isn't operating as Apple intended and on top of that, he's a whiner and too picky...WTF!

dave1812dave never said they were features. Are you assuming that there are only 'faults' and 'features' and something is either one or the other?

No, I think he is saying
(1) that it might very well be operating as Apple intended (it runs Apps, it plays music, and so on), regardless of what the consumer's expectations may be,
(2) someone who is not happy with the product is not obliged to buy it,
(3) it may be impossible for the iPod Touch to meet the OP's standards, or, given his knowledge of what the iPod Touch is like, it might be unreasonable for him to keep exchanging them, expecting something different
(4) also, the OP doesn't have to be happy with it, he is well within his rights to be unhappy with it; his unhappiness doesn't entitle him to satisfaction if his standards cannot reasonably be met

you people are insane. My iPhone had a light leak and it worked just fine for 2 years because I wasn't an obsessive ass driving up the prices for everyone else.

So you're basically calling everyone who has a valid reason to complain about the problems they're having with their devices "obsessive asses" just for daring to complain about them.

If you want to blame anyone for the prices going up, blame Fuhrer Jobs and his ever-growing lust for profits at the expense of quality control!

The "unreasonable" part is continuing to exchange defective devices ad infinitum and expect the store to be "ok" with it.

And you said it yourself... for a refund OR exchange. Expecting the store to continue to exchange devices is unreasonable. He was offered a refund and was upset by that. His sense of entitlement demanded that he end up with a defect-free device. He was offered a refund and his response is, "Apple store sucks".

Demanding unending exchanges rather than voting with their dollars is an immature approach.

"Dangit! This is America and I demand my right to buy an iPod!!!"

After 30minutes of arguing with the manager I was offered a refund along with the statement "maybe an iPod isn't right for you". Plus I had to go out of my day to spend an hour talking to the first Genius and wait for my appointment (10 minutes late). If I bought the iPod at Target originally, I wouldn't need to do that.

I don't think it's unreasonable to demand an exchange for a faulty product even if the product as a replacement is also faulty.

I demand the right to have a product that works out of the box and not have to waste time taking it back if it's faulty.

It's called customer satisfaction.:D

Some customers are NEVER satisfied. The OP is a prime example.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results."

True. He has already proven that there isn't a defect free iPod Touch 4 out there.

Get a ZUNE HD.

.............

If there weren't SOOOOOO many quality complaints on the iPT4, I'd send mine back and get another. But the chance of getting one that is better than mine is not that great. Just not gonna risk it. I will keep the one I have.

PS. My iPod has a small light leak around volume buttons and the clicking during playback of the recorded video. Minor stuff really. IMO.
