12:02, Still in Processing
Anyone else have the following problem: I got my confirmation email at 12:02, my credit card was charged, but the order remained in processing for several days. Then the credit card charge disappeared, with no notification from Apple of any problems with the order. I called customer support, and they claimed ATT had put a hold on the order, and that I needed to call ATT. ATT says they did no such thing, that I was perfectly eligible for an upgrade, and in fact had already renewed my contract.
Called Apple back, they conferenced in ATT to confirm what the ATT rep had told me, and said they'd send the order up to a higher level and get back to me in a few days. Then they call back and say they can't do anything because that branch of customer service can't handle iPhone orders.

The original Apple rep was very helpful, and (in theory) found a department of customer service that could handle the issue, but that it would take 2-3 days.
2-3 days go by. Nothing. I contacted the new rep, who says they need a further 1-2 days. Contacted them again, and still haven't heard anything.
Am I wrong, or is this preposterous? I was on the phone when ATT gave Apple the go ahead to send me the phone, and yet Apple can't figure out, over the course of 5 additional days, how to...send me the phone!?!? That's to say nothing of the fact that Apple never even let me know there was a problem in the first place. The first rep I spoke with could not have been nicer or more helpful, but apart from that this might be the most abysmal customer service I've witnessed first hand.
