Just ordered my first new MacBook since dumping my intel Pro for an M2 Mini. Missed the portability, and the iPad I’ve been using is just too limited.

I have a silver 15” M3 Air on the way with 24GB and 512 SSD. $1185 after taxes. I debated for days over going with M4 at 16GB and the same storage, but for about the same price on sale at Best Buy I opted for more RAM. Hoping to just drive this sucker for years to come, and excited to try out a 15” screen with such a low overall weight and footprint.

More dedotated WAM is definitely the way to go IMO for longevity. It and storage are going to be the limiting factors going forward, not the M3.

I just got a base M4, 16/256, 15". It's going to be my writing laptop. Holy crap lions, this thing is so big compared to my 14" MBP. And so thin. Neither of those things should shock me, but somehow it's different when I'm reading about it versus having it in my lap. I need a larger screen to open two documents at once, but this is just...large. I'll have to spend some time getting used to it.

I paid €1120 for open box starlight – my least favourite colour, but my favourite price (it's €1399 from Apple and €1239 unused from the same reseller). There is a tiny scratch on the charger – hence the price reduction – which I can't quite describe, because I have no intention of using that charger, I have my 100W Anker brick with the MagSafe cable connected. They also had M3 8/256 for €999, but I decided that in the unlikely case I decide to sell the Air sometime I would prefer not to be stuck with an 8 GB machine. Even though it would do everything I need it to perfectly well.

Have I mentioned it feels really big? ;)
