Yay, preparing for shipment! I was flying when the keynote was on so I didn't find out about the retina imac until about 2pm Friday (7pm Thursday California time). Ordered max spec on NZ store then. Now to wait for delivery...

After lurking and reading this forum

I was a windows pc user for years. And after the past 2 years of wanting to get a iMac, I finally bought one. I ordered on apple store, one of the refurbished 27in i7 3.5ghz, 8gb ram, 3tb fusiondrive, and the nvidia gtx 780m 4gb. I ordered it on Oct 8 in the evening, and it arrived on Oct 14. I had it delivered to family member as I had to work that day. I plan to update ram on my own later. Price at the time I ordered and bought mine was $2339 cdn. After a week, I see the same machine I ordered, went up to $2509 cdn. Am glad I ordered mine when I did :) And since I do browsing, emails, and games (WoW, Diablo 3, etc), this setup is perfect for me.

I knew there would be a new line of iMac around the corner, but I dont think they would have the new ones on sale or in refurbished for a long while. I am very happy with my iMac. I love how fast it boots up ready to use without having to wait for other programs to kick in. I have had my iphone for several years, and loved how simple and easy it is, that got me to checking out the imac line for a few years.

A very happy can't-stop-smiling new iMac user :)

Mine has shipped.

I have customised with 4.0GHz, 3TB Fusion. 16Gb RAM coming from Crucial.

Ordered within an hour of the announcement on the 16th. Shipping to London - expected delivery 29th October.

They have them in the Apple Stores here but I'll be avoiding them until mine arrives for what I hope to be a positively shocking experience.

Mine arriving on Tuesday. Same config but with 512 SSD. Like you, I will be avoiding any store views until then to get my first view at home. Hope to be stunned.....

You will... I played with one a few days ago...

Do you have a rMBP? If not, you will be doubly stunned...

I do have such an MBP. Single stunning will be sufficient for me...:) Can't wait. Delivery time now brought forward to Monday.

I ordered the VESA mount version on the evening of the 21st. 4ghz, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd. Says it will ship in 5-7 days...am hoping to have it by the end of the month, or shortly thereafter.

About how long is it taking for orders to ship after being placed?

Hurry up already!

Ordered mine directly after the keynote. Only modification was an upgrade to 3TB Fusion.

According to UPS, it shipped Thursday from Shanghai, arrived in Cologne, Germany late Friday, but it will take until Tuesday before they deliver it to my doorstep here in The Netherlands. Almost makes me want to drive over there to pick it up myself and have it tomorrow ;)

Late-2013 iMac

I've been wanting an iMac but was waiting for the eventual Retina announcement. I had planned on getting the new iMac5k, however, when I learned it would not support Target Display Mode (to pair with my Macbook Pro) I was disappointed but decided to pull the trigger on the late-2012 model.

I ordered mine late last Friday, 10/17. I purchased:

27” iMac Late 2013
3.5 QC Intel i7
3TB Fusion Drive
NVIDIA GTX 780M 4GB
and will couple it with 32GB RAM purchased through a third party.

It was shipped yesterday from Newark, California and scheduled to arrive where I live in Missouri on Tuesday, 10/28.

I am excited!

Just ordered my first iMac!

Late 2013 27"
3.4 GHz i5
8 GB (upgrading when I take delivery)
1 TB 7200 RPM HDD
nVidia 780M 4GB

Magic Mouse / Keyboard with Number Pad

Going to be a great upgrade from my Early 2011 MBP!

Just got mine today. Screen is every bit as beautiful as promised. 27 inch version of the rMBP. Very happy. Only downside is I'm doing a clean install and have to reinstall the apps. Thank goodness for iCloud!!!!

Finally took the plunge and ordered

I've just ordered my first iMac ever. I'm really excited and nervous also as this will be first time working with this operating system. I've been following MacRumors for good many months and finally convinced myself this is what I need.
This is what I ordered and should be with me 11-14 Nov.

Configuration
4.0GHz QC i7 Turboboost 4.4GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
512GB Flash Storage

MAGIC MOUSE+MAGIC TRACKPAD-Z
APPLE BATTERY CHARGER-B
Apple Num Kybd+User's Guide-B
COUNTRY KIT-B

My order was charged today and is now Preparing For Shipment. Not a bad turnaround time for ordering on the night of the 21st.

Just received my late 2013 27 iMac from BHphoto.

3.5 i7
8g ram
4gig video card
3TB fusion drive

Added 16g of ram from amazon today

I have mucho video projects starting now and could not wait 2 weeks for a machine.

Three tips:

1. buy from BHphoto no tax and free shipping
2. buy crucial ram from Amazon cheap and good quality
3. update all apps you want to keep and uninstall those you don't before you migrate. Much better!

received my order yesterday evening.

shipped on 23 October, arrived 29 October.

Retina iMac:

3,5Ghz i5 - standard
8GB RAM - standard
256GB Flash storage - Custom
AMD Radeon R9 m295X with 4GB VRAM - custom
Magic Mouse + wireless keyboard - standard

impressed by the screen. Such sharpness! coming from a MBP '11 with 1440x900 resolution and FullHD monitor.

Just pulled the trigger after quite a bit of researching (my first Mac).

4.0GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.4GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM (will order another 16GB from crucial making 24GB)
512GB Flash Storage
AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5
Apple Magic Mouse + Magic Trackpad
Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad
LaCie 2big Thunderbolt 2 Series RAID Hard Drive (6TB)
Apple Care

My iMac went from Shangai to Japan. Now I believe it is either flying to Memphis or Oakland. Preferably the latter, as it would still have time to be delivered tomorrow if they unload it quickly...

Edit: Memphis :(

Mine should be here today! It left Shanghai on Thursday, arrived in Memphis the next day, then arrived in CA the next. I did upgrade to better shipping though. My original arrival date was Monday, but hopefully it delivers today (Friday)

Well another first time Apple user here after using PCs since around 1997. Took some serious soul searching but with the promise of Bootcamp and Paralells for those Windows unique programs I use I decided it was now or never.

Waiting for a retina iMac, base configuration but I'm adding another 8gig RAM myself and a 2 TB external drive for time machine.

Only down side is my initial notice of dispatch states it is delivering on 3rd November and I specifically told them I could not take delivery before the 4th.
I hope that doesn't cause too many problems getting it in my sweaty hands!

One thing that has worried me is reading all the problems on here. I didn't realize Mac were prone to so many problems, although I'm balancing that with the thought forums usually attract complaints and there will be thousands in use out there that never cause a flicker of pain. :)

You may suffer a little with the base model. Reviewers are saying people should definitely upgrade.
