Unibody Macbook vs Older Macbook Pro

I have the 13" 2gHz 160gb Unibody Macbook, but I am thinking about trading with the older 15" 2.16gHz 120gb Macbook Pro. I actually do want a little bit bigger screen. Tell me what you think, if this is good trade or bad (possibly give me some pros n cons) thanks.

Nevermind I found it. I purchased my reufrb. MBP 2.66Ghz. I purchased it 3/24/10 and it arrived 3/29/10. Love it.

From time to time there is a 15.4" 2.4GHz 2GB 250GB HD MBP I'm tempted to buy for $1299. I have seen this version come up twice now during the past week. Does anyone own this version of the MBP and if so are you happy with it?

Yes, yes. It will look brand new! This version has the expresscard vs. SD card which makes the mac much more versatile. Upgraded the memory to 4GB for another $100 and the HD to a 7200 rpm for another $100. I actually had the 13" 2.53 being delivered when I saw this model appear in the refurb store for the same price! 15" screen, expresscard slot, and dedicated video card for the same price! I returned the 13" without opening the box for a full refund (shipping paid by apple).

I see the 2.66 for an extra $300 and the 2.8 for $400 more. I would have paid the extra for the 4GB memory and the larger 512 video card because I do video editing. Those were not available at the refurb store when I picked up mine.

Just got my macbook pro RFB MBP 15.4/2.53/2X2GB/250/SD-USA for $1,449 ($1699+$150=$1849 $300 savings not bad at all)
Came with only 15 battery cycles on it and lucky for me with 500Gb HD instead of 250Gb.

Ordered on 30th at 4am and got it on 31st at 4pm

Thank you Apple for fast delivery and surprise.

I heard some people having problems with FUJITSU MJA2500BH FFS G1 - but mine not beeping, hopes will stay this way.

What would you recommend me to check on this refurbished model? Cosmetically its seems to be perfect.

Hey guys,

New member to the forums but I have been creeping around for about a month. Just got my first Mac ever last week and I am loving it. I always hated Mac's through the public school system and never wanted a mac until 2 years ago when they came out with the awesome unibody. I started to look more closely to Mac's when my old laptop (Alienware Aurora m9700) started to have software and hardware issues. I loved that laptop, don't get me wrong, but my usage of my laptop has changed. I used to play alot of computer games which were very demanding, but I have switched more too Xbox 360, and what computer games I do play is supported by Apple (WoW, and soon to be CS:S).

I was first looking for a smaller computer since my previous laptop was 17 inches and way to heavy. I wanted small, portable, long battery life, stable software, and ease of use. I eventually decided on a mac, even though it is more expensive in regards to the hardware.

All in all, I am loving my laptop, and wouldn't change my mind and I am very happy I didn't wait any longer for the iX refresh. This model meets my needs very well.

Here is the serial info:

I'm so happy to see so many new MacBook Pro owners! I just got mine this week (it's your birthday and you're old so go splurge kind of thing) and I am wondering why and how I waited so long for this experience. I am truly in love.

I totally freaked after coming hear and reading warnings to "not buy" because of impending anticipated refresh, but I know I won't use all the power of an i5 or i7 processor and really only was concerned about some new innovation with the display or something, which is not likely.

I said I would never post on a "I just go mine!" thread, yet here I am because I am so damn proud to be a Mac owner!:D

Just sold my 15" MBP (late 2008) because I wanted a 13" (easier to take on the road). I know new MBP's are expected but in what timeframe? I would get the lowest model of the 13" MBP, but would hate to buy one and see a new (better) one released week after.

Just a got my 15" CTO delivered; well about 3 hours ago at 7AM; yes FedEx was knocking at my door at 7AM.

But good thing about that is I was able to upgrade the RAM to 8GB, swap out the drive to my new SSD, and fully charge my battery before starting the OS installation.

Yeah who care if they are updating these things. I'm happy with what I have.

And you should be happy, thats a great machine. What are the full specs?

What are the full specs?

Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 (3.06GHz)
8GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM
160GB Intel X25-M
15" Antiglare

Build date was April 1…

So the only real BTO option was the CPU and antiglare display. I've used a glossy for so long that I've forgotten how nice it is to have an antiglare/matte display again! I got the RAM from OWC and the SSD from NewEgg. I don't know what I'm going to do with the stock 4GB of RAM.

Just bought a MBP 13 (2.53/4)... love it. (Still getting used to the keyboard shortcuts, but the machine is really quite nice.)

Hi there...

I ordered a MBP 15" last week, normal 2.66GHz version (4GB Ram /320GB HD) with antiglare display option (die glossy, die!:p ) plus a nice bag....

Regarding the i5/i7 MBP discussion:

No need of a new cpu, because of unwanted but still possible hardware incompatibility problems (so called bugs)....got a also nice 24" iMac (april 2008) with so called "unwanted display problems"....I'm sick of such issues  Better get an older but 100% working configuration

PS: I mainly using my macs for homerecording (with a ULN-2+DSP MetricHalo Firewire Audio-Interface) or photography (Aperture 3, Baby ;) )

greetz

128GB SSD and 8GB of RAM, it screams

Just got my 15" MBP with anti-glare screen! The only 15" anti-glare that the Toronto store stocks is the high-end model, so I got that.

Model: - MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009)

Production Nr.: - Your Mac was number 685 to be built that week.

Mmmm, no wonder they were so confident that there would be enough stock, that they didn't need to put one aside for me ahead of time :p

So far I'm very happy! Now to see if I can rescue the data from my old, expired HP...

Interesting that it was built quite a while ago. Wonder what it's been doing!

The only configuration Apple sells with the anti-glare display is there top end store configuration.
