I just purchased a 16 inch MacBook Pro M1 Max 10 Core CPU/32 Core GPU with 64GB and 1TB storage to use for my desktop replacement computer. I'm looking forward to how well this new to me laptop will perform as I begin putting it thru it's paces doing photo editing duties with my 4k 32 inch curved display connected to it.

The price I got this M1 Max laptop for was very hard to pass on and the Space Grey color and config . . . a no brainer to pick up.

EDIT: my 16 inch MBP arrived this afternoon. Couldn't be happier with the purchase as this laptop looks brand new.

The laptop came with MacOS Sequoia 15.7.1 installed. I have since updated the OS to 15.7.2. I'm not sure if I want to upgrade to Tahoe just yet on this laptop.

I was nearly going to get a New Sealed In Box M4 Pro 48gb / 512SSD 16” MacBook Pro from ipower until I noticed that it appears to not be eligible for AppleCare+.

It would have replaced my M2 Macbook Air 15”.

Anyone else purchased one of those and knows more?

Hi all...

Been a while since I posted anything - nothing really had changed at my end - I had a 11" Pro (2nd Gen) still have it and use it, had an iPad mini 6th Gen (exchanged it for my new folding phone) - but today, I picked up my MBP M4 Pro 14" 28GB RAM/512 HDD - with the nano textured screen, which I really really like! For the record, I did see the news about the M5 release, but that did not lead me in any way to consider either cancelling my order or returning the machine that I picked up - literally this afternoon!

This is my first MBP and first exposure to MacOS. I have paired this with a LG 34WR55QK-B curved monitor and its a very good and comfortable set-up.

As for MacOS, there are some hiccups in my use - but that is to be expected. Some of the things I am very unfamiliar with - for example, I am still wondering why all the windows manipulation controls are clustered on the left top right and why the "x" to close the window is not to the right top corner. But this is just a matter of getting used to a new system. Btw, I am coming to the MBP from a much cherished ThinkPad X1C6 but the 8GB of RAM and the 256SSD was not cutting it - it's 5 years old now so to be expected. It now will serve as my back up machine.

As for the MBP hardware - naturally, I got the Space Black, which I really liked. I am finding the KB on the MBP quite interesting as compared to the legendary KB of the ThinkPad, which has always been my benchmark. I do like the aspect ratio of the MBP - it is more to my preference. I do find the MBP to be a bit heavy but then again, the ThinkPad is comparatively lighter (but not by much) being an all plastic (albeit good plastic) build. The MBP seems more dense and that's a good thing in my books.

I am looking forward to working with the MBP - I don't think I will find it problematic to get comfortable. I think I understand - at least in theory - how the file system works so that's more than 1/2 the battle won.

One last point - In all honesty I should add that till recently I was in the no-Mac camp. I preferred Windows machines and specifically the ThinkPad line (which I still like) but it's time for me to experience something different. I have used Linux, Windows, and now it's time to use MacOS. I did come to the decision to buy the MBP via circuitous route - but that's for another post!

Cheers!
