I bought my new MBP non-retina base model on saturday, been playing around on it for a few days and i absolutely love it. It's my first new personal mac but have been using them at college.

Also new to the forum so Hi guys :D

My new MBP!

I just bought my base Retina Macbook Pro 2 days ago and I could not be happier with it! The screen itself is worth the high cost.:)

Just ordered the retina MBP w/ 2.6GHz CPU, 512GB SSD, and 16GB RAM. Cames out to almost $3000 w/ tax and education discount... That's still stinging. Half tempted to cancel and order the 2.3/256 instead... but I don't know if I'd be satisfied with 256GB.

Anyone want a rev B MBA? lol.

Just got the one you ordered. I think the machine is worth $3000, at least if you use it as much as I do. Been using it for 2 days, and every time I open it up I can't believe the screen. It a new paradigm. If you're going to spend more than 2 or 3 hours a day using the machine for the next 3 years or so, the price is more than worth it, I think.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Just placed an order for a MacBook pro with retina display, base model (2.3 ghz, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd). It is scheduled to be delivered between 2nd and 8th August. Oh I am so excited!

Base Macbook Pro Retina

Hi All. I just joined the forum and this is my first post. I got the RMbP base model last Saturday. I've been enjoying this thing so far. There is definitely a scroll lag but that does not deter me from loving this thing. I have iPods, iPhones and an iPad, but this is my first Mac, so hopefully I could learn from you guys on softwares/apps, accessories and other tips.

Thanks,
Jay

Well I don't currently use my laptop much, but I've been wanting something higher end so that I'm not forced to use my desktop all the time.

I decided I'll just stick with this system - it should hopefully last me a while between the 16GB RAM and 512SSD. And with the apparent UI issues, I'm sure the slightly extra CPU can't hurt. Now if only it could ship sooner than 3-4 weeks ><

Just bought my first mac... rMBP 2.7/16/512... omfg this thing is awesome i think I just had a nerdgasm...

I can even control my 2003 server with .rdp terminal... I don't even need to install windows for anything...

I am so happy!;)

Can't wait to buy Diablo 3 this week...

Just got a refurbished MBP.

Is there anything to look at that will tell if it's been used before, or not?

I notice the screen part is slightly misaligned at the front corners, like there was a bit of play in the hinge and it was tightened down before being exactly lined up. Barely a fingernail thickness out of line -- overhang at the front right, underbite at the front left.

I wonder if this is a sign of an inattentive repair, and if so what else might be a bit off.

Can I hope it might be an original assembly slight flaw, and that be reason enough to have this one in the refurbs?

Wondering, how much room is there in the 2011 MBP hinge for the wires? With the lid very slightly out of line with the body, is there anything in the hinge that could be too tight? Anything pinched that would be pinched worse than it should be, back at the hinge?

Just ordered mine late last night. I got the 2.3/16/256 one with a student discount. $200 off, $100 gift card and 2% in cash back :) Now I just have to wait until August 2nd-8th.

Has anyone who recently placed an order with Apple had any luck in scoring a free superdrive or magic mouse?

Well I just recently purchased my 15 inch macbook pro...it's awesome.

I would like to know what command this is for "Find people":

You mean what the keyboard shortcut is? That's Option-Command-U, the two keys adjacent to the spacebar. :)

How would one manage to score that? Ask if you can have it for free? :)

I do believe that the 2day shipping only counts for weekdays and not weekends.
I might be wrong tho.

I'm somewhat the opposite of you. I didn't pay for expedited shipping and mine will show up (maybe) today, it shipped July 3. Right now it's on a plane from Memphis to Albany and SHOULD get there in time to hit the truck for delivery today.

Order from Processing to Preparing for Shipment

My order status for my MacBook Pro Retina just changed today from Processing Items to Preparing for Shipment.

Question - How long does it usually take from this status change to actual shipment?

Finally got mine!

This is my first post on here. I had the original aluminum MacBook, I got it in 2008, but never joined any forums. But I ordered the 15" MBP with the retina screen on June 28th and it came yesterday.

It really is like a piece of art. Truly beautiful. I got the $100 App Store giftcard too, for this Back To School thing. I have no idea what to buy with it. I bought Twitteriffic, because Twitter for Mac looks awful since it hasn't been updated. I saw that Tweetbot is bringing their app to the retina display MBPs, so I'll probably get that when it comes out, since I love it on my iPod Touch (I'm a diehard BlackBerry user, so the iPod touch is as close as I've come to an iPhone ;) )

Anyways.. Google Chrome Canary is working really well for me, I read that it gets updated nightly, so I'm hoping it just gets better as it comes out of beta. It's a nice alternative to Safari.

I hope everyone else is enjoying their MBP just as much as I'm enjoying mine

My first post!

Hi all, I ordered the rMBP (2.6/512/16) on 16th June, but it's still in the "Processing" stage. Hope the shipping status gets updated soon.

Ships: 3 - 5 Weeks
Delivers 12/07/2012 - 25/07/2012

Is there anyone else who ordered around the same time as I did? Really excited and can't wait for it to arrive!

Confusing

Looking through the apple store online for refurbished 17"mbps and wondering which is the latest release of the fastest processor? An Oct 2011 Quad core 2.5Ghz i7 4GB ram or an Oct 2011 Quad core 2.4Ghz i7 8GB ram??? There is no Ivy bridge chip in these right? ALSO - can I upgrade to 16GB of ram for this late 2011 model??

I just recently ordered me second one. My first one had screen issues and they refunded me back at my local Apple store. The problem was that they did not have my model in stock so I had to order online.

rMBP/2.7/16/768

Expected August 6th-10th

Finally - Preparing for Shipment

I ordered my rMBP on June 11 at around 4:30 pm when I finally was able to get through the process on the website. I say finally, because some links were broken for the education discount and Apple had a problem processing the $100 gift card discount. I had to redo the purchase process again and again before it finally took.

I ordered the 2.7/16/768 options.

After watching others receive theirs after having ordered the same config after I did, I finally went to "Preparing for Shipment" yesterday.
