Departed Shanghai!
Expected to reach me (Leeds, UK) next Tuesday
I wish they had Concorde..

They didn't have it already in stock at your store? My store had this config in stock.

Once I change the 8GB -> 16GB the availability changes to "Ships to Store" for all So Cal locations, i haven't gone into the stores to check though, I imagine its accurate.

Went to Best Buy, asked if they had the latest model rMBP 13" (with force touch). It took a while for them to figure out that I wanted the latest model, not last year model. They didn't have any in stock but they had one close by but they didn't have the in-store pick up option when it arrives. So the gave me a free expedited shipping.

Was estimated to get it by Friday 3/20/2015. But received it today at my work. I am currently on my new rMBP. I went with the 2.9 GHz i5, 512 GB. Sadly I'm stuck with 8 GB RAM but i'm not a power user so RAM isn't a concern for me.

Previously, I had the Early 2011 cMBP and felt like this one was an upgrade with speed and also force touch (Loving it so far).

hey just curious but does anybody know when the macbook pro july 2014 refurbished model will drop in price? The new macbook 2015 editions came out and I was hoping for a price drop on the refurbished models but that didn't really happen. Do refurbished models ever drop in price?

THey already did for the 13 inch

My first Mac is on the way

I ordered the updated 13-inch rMPB. I may have gone 'overboard' on the upgrades but hey, it's my first Mac! Picking up at :apple: Store this Wednesday.

I was fighting a hopeless battle with a MacBook Air hardware problem, and finally gave up.

I was hoping to get something new, maybe even wait for Skylake, but I was offered this machine for the price of the new entry level 12" MacBook:

MacBook Pro Retina 15" (mid-2014), 16GB RAM, Core i7 2.2GHz, Iris Pro graphics, 256 GB SSD.

It was brand new, never been taken out its plastic wrap, so I pulled the trigger.

I'm getting less and less worried about its size, and I'm loving everything about its performance, the screen, the huge amount of RAM and a GPU that can play Civilization V.

My only wish is to have aftermarket SSDs for these machines by early 2016, when the warranty expires. I bet I'm not the only one here!

Sublime Text looks fantastic on a Retina screen.

Just ordered a 2015 rMBP 13" loaded up with i7, 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD. Giving my 2014 MBA 8/512 to my wife who is still rocking a 2011 MBA 4/256. Selling hers to pay for my new toy. Apple says I'll get it in TWO WEEKS. ARGHHHHHHHH....

Status changed to "Preparing for shipment". Six days to build I guess. I hope it gets here in less than 10 days... :(

I just got the 2.7ghz i5, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd Macbook Pro, this is my first time owning a laptop I have always been a desktop guy. So far happy with it!

I recently got a 15'' Macbook Pro base! Very happy with my purchase! It's my first Mac, so I am still a little "noob". I think it's compreensive, tough I was a Windows user for more than 15 years.

But in the overall, 100% happy!

Just bought my first MacBook Pro 13.3" retina i5 2.6 Ghz with 256GB SSD and 8GB of ram and must admit i was a little disappointed, CPU seemed pretty stacked most of the time, battery life was 4 hours top at full charge even though it was showing 94% healthy. Just researched into extending battery life and one of the points mentioned was to do a PRAM reset.... WOW:eek: went from 3:57 remain to showing 8:11 remain and the CPU's have remained pretty low use... would defiantly recommend doing this then you get a MBP for the first time 2nd hand!!

Yosemite, to me, looks hideous. I'm glad my little corner in DoD has yet to require anything past Mountain Lion. (Currently using Mavericks on a 15"/2.5/16/512.)

I really want the newest rMBP, but I don't know if I want to spend the extra $250+. Even with an educational discount it's a little steep.

That's the dilemma that I have with my new 2014 one as well. If you want the 2015 ones at a price that the 2014s are selling now, you'll have to wait until the Skylake models come out, and then you'll want the Skylake rMBPs instead of the Broadwell rMBPs.

The only reason I bought the 2014 one is that I spilled water on my 2012 15" and it died.

Ordered a 13" rMBP 2.9 GHz / 512 GB / 8 GB RAM on the 19th, now is prepared to dispatch and should get to me until Wednesday.
Can't freaking wait! Upgrading from a 13" cMBP early 2011 (which I did ice out with a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD). Going to miss my baby but I'm sure I will love the new one just as much :)

Finally pulled the trigger today going from a Late 2013 13" rMBP 256/8/i5 base I got from BB private sale for $1249.00 to a Early 2015 13" rMBP 512/16/i7 all for only $2199... I have lost my mind.

I JUST did the exact same thing, upgraded from the late 13 also. Have you used it yet? Mine is currently copying from my ex Hd. Let me know what you think as I can hardly wait!

I was however fortunate to use the education discount.

Thats interesting, glad I'm not the only one. I will report back when it get here, April 6th. I used ship to store as I am going to be out of town. Does anyone know how much storage space is taken up in a time machine back up (I usually run about 250GB which will change moving to a 512. My back up drive is a 1 TB.

I've come over to the dark side!

As some of my friends tell me I've come over to the dark side!" when I got my rMBP

I've been wanting one for over a year or so now, and yesterday I managed to pick up an early preowned 2013 rMBP, with 16GB, 750GB Storage, and the 650M graphics card.

All I can say is the rMBP is outstanding! I was running a Dell XPS 15 with Win 8.1, but I can finally say that Mac's are everything they are hyped up to be.

The OSX experience is so intuative and awesome, even with the small learning curve, it is a breeze to work on

Love my rMBP, and if this is the dark side, please keep the lights off!

Yeah, I used to kid my mac using friends that macs were for people who couldn't understand a 2 button mouse. Now I love my mac and I'm taking a bit of ribbing for being a slow learner.

Lol..this made me chuckle but I hope I can say this myself in a few months! I'm nervous about the switch (ok, so I'm most nervous about spending $1500 on a computer..which I said I'd never do). I hope I never regret it.

:D

My ? is: what is the learning curve I've heard about, exactly?

I have an Iphone 5. Am I part way there w/ the learning curve?

I can say I don't like "the cloud/i Cloud" b/c I can't figure out how to use it well. BUT I've since found I'm saving my pictures in Amazon Prime so that has helped. I use Google Drive for documents and spreadsheets and I love it! I think for backups and saving pictures, if need be, I'll end up getting an external hard drive.

The guy at Apple showed me a little bit on how i Photo and i Movie works so that seems like something I'll like too.

I can't say you're not going to regret it, but I don't regret it one bit.

Most of the learning curve is just learning how Finder works, and the Delete Key, which works like the iPhone, iPad, etc.

I even figured out how to make and receive calls on my MBP

I was in the same boat a few months ago and I am very happy I spent the money so far.

Sow down, you've only had it for a day. Give it a few weeks to learn the OS.

I too got my first Mac three weeks ago and like it, but I am not completely switching to Mac OS. I'll still use Windows and Linux too.
