Most iphone updates are iterative. Some are extremely good iterations even transformative, as noted below, but they all are iterative. (I don't consider usb-c anything more than what it is - a connector, unless like Apple Pay, Apple does something innovative with it)

- iphone 4s: is the embodiment of the iphone future
- iphone 5s: touch id
- iphone 6: bigger iphone and apple pay
- iphone X: face id
- iphone 15: ?
To be honest, iphone 12 felt like a big jump in ergonomics due to big redesign and iphone 13 pros had biggest battery life and promotion coupled with high OS stability. In comparison our 14PM upgrade was kinda meh except 5g and 4g speeds.

Hopefully iphone 15 will be decent update.

Coming from an XR the iphone 14 is a spectacular upgrade. Compared to the iphone 13, while not as big a jump as an XR there still are worthwhile incremental improvements. (Battery life is important, but not always king) On verizon I have gotten 500 down in speedtests, but it's not about speed it's about the overall improvements since the XR. That's why we all have to realize the yearly iphone updates are all iterative -- but to acknowledge that Apple can deliver some really good functionality in an update.

As far as battery life: one of these is very handy. https://www.amazon.com/VEGER-Portab...8777&sprefix=mini+iphone+,aps,119&sr=8-8&th=1

bought the pro max and returned for a regular pro. i do miss the battery life, but i think running it w/o aod and w/o 5g is a nice middle ground. the size was just too much and the phone is rather expensive already, though relative to inflation its actually a great value.

Turning off aod is fine cause most don't mind and it helps battery, but why would someone buy 3rd series of iphone with 5G to run it on Lte? Maybe only if 4g reception is better in your area than lousy 1 bar of 5G.

5G is only in the cities in my country and I avoid those as much as I can. Not that I am complaining as I don’t want 5G aerials in my area to be honest.

Checking in here did many return back to the 14 Pro from the Pro Max because of the too big size of the mobile for daily usage??

I did it the other way around. Changed from 14 Pro to 14 Pro Max for better battery and bigger screen. I found the pro to be heavy anyway. Imho the max is not much worse.

I’m actually in the same shoes now, on the 13 Pro and contemplating whether to go for the Pro Max! The size difference is only 0.6” but just wondering how big of a difference it gets when comes to one hand usage, plus in jeans and office pants.

I would definitely vouch for pro max though not 14. Colleague has 14 pro and it dense heavy brick, while wife’s 14 PM is heavy but weight evenly distributed and it feels right for my one handed use.
14 PM has wow factor only if you shoot 48MP raw otherwise we can’t tell the difference between 13PM.
TLDR: i suggest you to wait 15PM, especially apple cut trade in values by almost 100 bucks since September for 13 pro or max series.

I honestly tried the 14 Pro but unfortunately I returned that immediately after unboxing it because I found it too small. the size of the 14 Pro max is a perfect size for me. It just boils down to personal preference. I had mainly used the pro max size. Just figured I wanted to give it a shot with the 14 pro but just couldn't do it. Pro max size FTW.

Went from iPhone 14 Pro Max to iPhone 14 - much nicer weight, my only wish is that Apple will finally introduce a telephoto lens for the regular iPhone - especially if you see what Samsung is doing to their "entry level" phones this week!

I returned my pro for the pro max back in September and fast forward 5 months or so and I am finding it's heft am annoyance. It is a combination od the size, weight and sharp edges for for, for example if I hold it in one hand it leaves a dent in my finger and it just generally uncomfortable to use on the go.

The trouble is as I get older I find the extra screen size easier to read on etc and the standard pro too small. Something in the 6.3-6.4" range would be perfect I think. Having said that if I could straight swap mine for an equivalent condition standard pro right now I think I probably would.

Don’t want 5G?! Why?
Until I can use 5G without my phone doubling up as a hand warmer I'll pass on it. Also in real world terms the difference between 4G and 5G is really not that big.

Hopefully newer modems will be more efficient.

I just now cancelled my order. I was at the Apple Store yesterday and tried the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Currently using a 12. They are so heavy and the camera bumps are absurd. The design is just not great at this point. They’ve seriously lost the plot here.

Wish I could swallow Android but I hate Android. So here I sit, with a 12.

Android is not as bad as you think give it a try you will be amazed. This coming from someone that just picked up a 14 pro max.

Makes sense. I have the 14 pro and it’s an unwieldy brick already… so why not get the Best Brick?!
14 PM is a well more balanced brick - just like a famous example of the pressure that woman on high heels puts on the ground is more than the elephant on his feet.
14 PM feels much nicer in the hand while 14 Pro is a dense small heavy brick.

I’ll be honest, I actually miss my iPhone 13 Pro Max even though I’ve got the 14 Pro Max now. On a day to day basis I don’t see much of a difference and feel like I could’ve saved the money this year. But hey you’ve got what you got.
I kind of regret not getting the 13 pro last year. Probably wouldn’t have upgraded if I didn’t - but went from 13 mini to 13 then to 14 Pro this year.
