I'll immediately buy the 13" version with 4gb and the largest SSD.

Will be using it for iOS and Windows development. :)

I use an old 2009 13" MBP. Bought a 2011" 15" i7 MBP the other day and, after only 6 days, sent it back to Apple for a refund. Just couldn't get used to the size and weight of the 15".

This 13", even though it has an SSD, is getting a bit long in tooth. Although I'm tempted with the 2.7 i7 13" MBP, I'm going to hold and see what the new Airs are like before making a final decision.

I'll be tempted to buy on day one but only if they ship with an 8GB option. I can live without a backlit keyboard (just!), but can't without 8GB. On this 13", I have OS X and Windows 7 running virtually and it's fine, but only after upgrading to 8GB, so Windows 7 can be allocated 2GB.

I can't see the Airs having an 8GB option as they are designed to be lightweight and portable machines and not a desktop replacement.

If Apple can. They will. They love to sell extortionately priced RAM lol

I just bought a 27" iMac online that's still to arrive, if I can't get used to the size of it, I'm gonna go 11 inch Ultimate. For college I'd struggle to imagine a better machine, for coding at least - possibly a 13" :D

Yup,

Day one, I'm gonna order me an 11 ultimate. Waiting and anticipating is pretty sweet at this point, :D especially since I don't have to make my mind up between the 11 and 13 :p :D

Here's hoping for MONDAY BABY!!!

Who else is with us? Who is gonna buy DAY ONE, and what are you planning?

Actually day one was last year :D

It's almost perverse how much I've been jones'n for the updated 13" MBA. I'm also looking to further pimp it out with a Carbon Fiber case (the only case I've seen that, IMHO, is worthy to caress the silk, silvery skin of a MacBook Air or Pro).

Well now the rumor has been changed to unlocked iPhones (a great thing in itself IF this rumor is true) vice MBAs. Unfortunately can't wait any longer. If the new slim and sexy MBAs aren't released this week gonna have to get the thick and dependable MacBook Pro instead. It's like high school all over again.

I will be purchasing one and hoping $1350 will be enough to purchase a Ultimate 11" MBA from Apple. :)

I will buy a 13" ultimate as soon as they come out, as long as 4GB RAM is standard. Why? Because if They only have 2GB, I'll have to BTO to get 4, and order online with 8.2% sales tax. And pay the extra $100 for the RAM. If it comes standard I can buy at my nearest Apple store without tax. $1600 vs. $1600 + $100 + 8.2% of total. That's a crazy difference.

It might take a few days for "ultimates" to appear in store, if its like the last release. Just preparing those who are waiting for a bit of a wait in case its not there day 1.

Hardware refreshes are on Tuesdays lol

I probably won't buy day one, as I want to read some reviews first (sensible buyer? Who would do such a thing!?)... but I do plan - at this point - for an ultimate 13" to be my next laptop before the summer ends :D

Same boat here. I got the money ready for day1 but I need to see what exactly is getting upgraded. Just TB + SB isn't going cut it for me but optional 8gb RAM, more usb ports and/or improved physical design will!

Of course, if retina comes along (one can dream?), even with nothing else upgraded i would buy it DAY1.

I'll pass, too many problems with the SB chip (Lenovo, HP, Dell throttling issues). I'm waiting for Ivy or ARM.

LOL....you do know that Dell and some of those brands have had Throttling issues since the i7 came out right?

You will be waiting a very very long time for no throttling issues as that is common if the laptop gets hot for whatever it's doing.

I am wondering though If i should get a new one to qualify for the back to school program. What do you get anyway? Are the airs compatible with the deal anyway?
:apple:

You get a free iPod Touch. The base model Air is $50 off, so if you sold the iPod on craigslist you could get around $200 off.

But you have to put the money up front for the iPod first and wait for a rebate check, but Apple has one of the easiest rebate systems I have ever used.

nobody said there is going to be a back to school program...

No, but if the past 5 years are any indication then they probably will. Especially with Microsoft giving away Xbox 360's.

I'm buying a 13" MBA on the first day I can get it with a Lion install USB drive. Hopefully that is the same day.

Going to be difficult not buying the first day ... especially if it is all that I'm hoping it to be. The wife has the 11.6 2010 model and I just love that form factor.

She's gotta be sold on the idea of "matching laptops" - I know my wife would be, but she's a hardcore HP fan and won't buy anything but (sigh, nothing wrong with HP, but still, sigh).
