we have 2 iPh4's and are perfectly happy with them. IOS 5 will run fine on them and there is no features we really want. In fact there are no features really other than that voice assistant thing that I no won't be used. The camera was the only thing. 720p though looks great anyways because of our dated tv and screens, and none of our photos are made larger than 4 by 6. Will we get the next redesign likely. I can't believe that they would name it the 4s. i thought the only rason the need the 3g the 3gs was too get the naming thing corrected (the iPhone 2g was actually the first, the 3g was the second...)

:apple:

I think the 4S is a nice upgrade. HOWEVER, it will probably be the first one I don't buy on Day One. The "big" feature - while cool - is honestly not something I think I will use very much, if at all.

My iPhone 4 really doesn't feel "old" now like the other iPhone models did when their replacements were announced.

I am keeping my iPhone 4 unless it breaks and I'm forced to upgrade at no cost.
I am really upset with this event. The iPhone 4S seems like a nice upgrade, but is not worth the hassle of having to sell my 4 and have to recoup some funds to pay for the 4s. Even the iPad 1 to iPad 2 was a bigger upgrade.

Sorely disappointed to say the least... oh well.

Yep, I see basically no reason to upgrade. My iP4 is in flawless condition, everything works perfectly, and the 4S gives me no incentive to go through the hassle of an upgrade. I have a pretty strong feeling that Siri will be ported to the 4, although even then, I doubt it'll significantly change the way I use my phone. A5? If my 4 ever feels slow I'll disable some WB themes, turn on iOverclock + FakeClockUp, and be good to go. New camera? Honestly this is the only feature that impressed me, but seeing as I hardly use my iP4 for pictures or videos, it's not exactly something I'm dying to have. World phone? Makes no difference for me. Faster network speeds? Still all depends on coverage, and I've never had a problem with speeds in my area. 64 GB? Still wouldn't contain close to half of my lossless collection and 399 is a ridiculous price point.

So yeah, I'm saving my money and buying a pair of Denon AH-D2000s instead.

Even if they had introduced a new redesigned iphone 5 today, I still wouldn't buy it.
I've had my 4 since last November and I've been very satisfied with it. And I'm not one to change phones every year.

So, I'll sit back and enjoy a year more of rumors and leaks about the next iphone device and see what happens when it comes out:p

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

I'm perfectly happy with the 4. The only thing it could use is a faster processor to get rid of the bit of choppiness, which they've now addressed.

I find it funny that the one thing I want has been mostly disregarded as unimportant by most posters in all these months of speculation.

Not really

those who have an upgrade and use it now will then be locked in for two years which isn't a great idea to me when the main big upgrade should be next year.

Happy with my iPhone 4, no plans to upgrade or switch and I think iOS 5 will keep me satisfied until next year. I still love my 4, was hoping to see something new(er) today, but while there is a slight disappointment, I'm still perfectly happy. Hey, and at least it means I dont have to empty my wallet for a new phone and new cases! ;)

It really isn't. If I was salivating over the new iphone I'd be willing to pay to break contract...but I'm not, so I won't.

I'm a bit upset that upgrades are still restricted for those of us with first month i4 purchases.

If I could get the upgrade price then selling the i4 would negate the cost of the 4S. I'd get the white version I never got a year ago. Better antenna design. Siri and the hardware updates. Win win if I can convince AT&T to bump my upgrade up to now.

Perfectly happy with my iPhone 4. Does everything I want it to, and does it well. Just installed iOS 5 which will make it even better. I simply can't justify paying up my contract for the 4S.

I don't get it, my original upgrade date was 11/25. I just checked AT&T and the page after clicking "check now" said 11/24. I then clicked "upgrade" or whatever and it said 11/23 on the next page. Whatever, I'll be keeping my upgrade regardless.

Not perfectly... I don't care about anything as far as the Siri crap... (Facetime all over again.)

I do like the beefier specs, though. But I'm not bothering this year.

Keeping my iPhone 4. I do have an upgrade to use and thanks to todays announcement, I'll be keeping an eye out for an Android device to upgrade to. Hello Nexus Prime.

I'll probably be keeping my 4. All the apps I have bought has me hamstrung. I had a buyer lined up for my 4 but I decided not to sell it for now. Might go buy a GS2 to try it out.

Although my iPhone 4 is fine, I'll upgrade to get the improved camera, and Siri.

The camera because I take great photo's on my iPhone 4 and can see that I can do better with it.

Siri because I can see what a great thing this will be. It is a game changer.

Disappointed with today, but I think I expected it anyway.

Sticking with my 4. The only reason I'd wanna upgrade is to get a white one, but it's too much of a hassle.

Will probably use the money to buy some new headphones!

Until now I was of the impression that a 4S announcement would mean that I would buy an Android phone. However, faced with that prospect I kinda just thought about my needs and reassessed whether my iP4 needs upgrading anyway.

It doesn't. I am genuinely pleased with it, and with iOS5 it'll be even better.

So I figure that while I'll try my luck with my carrier in terms of upgrading (I won't hold my breath), it would be best to cancel my current (extortionate) contract and get a cheaper plan on a better network that offers me better stuff like tethering for iPad :D

I do want to mess about with Siri though :D

I got my 4 in July, knowing the next one was coming "soon".

Other than the better camera, there isn't much i need. I don't game on it, I can't see myself using Assistant, so really, I'm cool.

Think I'm more irked the touch didn't get a better update.... I wonder if it will get updated with the iPad now? I guess the first clue was the lack of the summer clearance with the back to school sale.

Anyway, I will now plan on buying the 5 next year outright.

I've always been happy with my iPhone 4. Why change it anytime soon? Had 4S had a bigger screen, I probably still wouldn't update. Apple didn't make such a big update to make us current owners NOT feel bad since alot of us are still stuck in our contracts.

On 4S' defense, the biggest negatives really had more to do with the screen size and lack of design since people hate the sharp edges of the current 4. But everything inside the 4S is improved. They took an already great phone and made it better INSIDE. It isn't such a bad phone the way people make it out to be. And least we don't have to change the cases again.

Just be happy for whatever we have or are planning to get.
