I'm happy with my iPhone 4 and ill be even more happy with iOS 5. Hopefully the dev team can get Siri on jailbroken devices.

I'm sticking with my iPhone 4. Its fast enough for me since I only use it for Internet, music and texting. I don't need a dual core processor to be happy. 8mp camera would be nice, but the 5mp on the iPhone 4 is sufficient. And i dont really feel like talking to my phone either. I am perfectly happy with my iphone 4 :)

The Iphone 4S is a killer phone and basically everybody who bought the Iphone 4 when it first came out are eligible for the upgrade. Sell you iphone 4 to pay for the Iphone 4S and get it...the Iphone 5 will not come out till this time next year. Sell you Iphone 4S and get the Iphone 5.

This thread should be renamed to "I wish I was eligible for an upgrade now!"
You are so wrong. Apparently you don't get it...I was ready to throw down whatever I needed to get the next iPhone, but the 4s is so underwhelming that I see no reason to go to the trouble because there is no discernible difference between my 4 and a 4s.

Say whatever you want about the A5 chip, which is no doubt fast, but there's no real world difference to the average user.

I have been eligible for 6 months (somehow AT&T never rest my eligibility) and I won't be upgrading. I will save it for the next redesign, not for the spec bump. I use mine as a phone, mail client, and web browsing...not to play a ton of games on it

This'll clearly upset 3GS owners, but news of the 4GS confirms to me that people who currently own a 4 and had a 3G before it (assuming you skip a gen and upgrade every 2 years) are on the optimum cycle. The 4GS is a nice piece of kit but hardly worth bothering with if you have a 4. Thought the same about the 3GS. "The new hotness" hardly applies to the S releases it seems to me. Roll on the V!

Of course, if you are upgrading from a 3GS, the 4GS is a splendid upgrade and will be enjoyed immensely.

I'm on this cycle...first iPhone was the 3G, I was kinda mad that the 3GS came out a month after I got my 3G(deployed so I was a bit behind back I the real world)...I got my 4g last year and I will wait for whatever comes next(will be stationed back in the us in 2013 so I'll wait tip I get back to get a real phone service plan)

I'm perfectly happy with my iPhone 4, but that doesn't stop me from upgrading to the iPhone 4S.

You think it's worth upgrading money wise? was your contract up?

If you're perfectly happy with it, then why did you have to make a thread to let everyone know?

To see who else with the 4 is not upgrading and for those who are upgrading I was interested in their reasons why.

Yeah I guess I "don't get it" since my out of warranty iPhone 4 will pay for my 4s with warranty. <scratch head>

The day before the announcement I thought this too

The iphone 4 is v. fast as is, I've never noticed a slowdown at all

I'm getting the 4S now and when the 5 comes out I'm getting that too. That's how us fanboys roll. :D

There are 2 main issues with my phone. The home button issue (software or hardware?) that still persists with IOS 5. And the proximity sensor issue that, though not as bad as it once was, is still there.

But since I'm not eligible for subsidized upgrade until March, well on the way toward when a new version may be out, I'll just stay unless something happens like damaging or losing it.

2010 was a big Apple year for me anyway. The iPad 3G, iPhone 4, MacBook Pro, and a Mac Mini for another family member.

----------

Also, if i don't do anything before next July, I have options. The next phone that comes out, if it supports LTE, I can consider going to Verizon or staying with ATT. Or maybe TMobile will be supported, and maybe have a better offer than ATT. I never come close to using my provided minutes, so Rollover hasn't meant anything for me.

I don't know if Sprint is any better than it used to be where I live. In the past it was unusable at my home.

iOS 5 has been running great on the iPhone 4 for me. I'll need to test it for a bit longer but the first initial minutes with it[past the setup] have been really smooth. I really liked the ability to use the phone while it was syncing all my data.

I'm perfectly happy with my iPhone 4--except for the home button issue. Luckily for me, mine is still in the early intermittent stage, and for now a weekly tap-and-vacuum session takes care of 90% of it.

If it doesn't go away (and realistically, I don't expect it to), I'm eventually going to have to take it in to Apple. It's very hit or miss as to whether or not they'll give you a free one time out of warranty swap for the home button; if they will, great, I'm happy enough to take custody of a refurb iPhone 4 for the next year & wait for the iPhone 5.

But if they're going to want me to cough up $200 for that refurb, I'll use my December upgrade on the 4S instead, because why pay the same price for a lesser quality phone?

If the home button issue would just go the f--- away, I wouldn't even consider changing phones.

My IP4 was a gift from my parents for graduation so it has a sentimental value to me. Though I might upgrade to the IP5.

Anyone keep their IP3 until the 4? I'm not sure how big of a leap the 3GS was from the previous model.

My iPhone 4 has served me well and it's still going strong, so I'm gonna stick with it for a little while longer.
A lot of people underestimate how durable it actually is. I don't use any cover, case, shield, band, sleeve or bumper on my phone and aside from a couple very faint hairline scratches, it looks like new.

I've sorta struggled with this decision. My plan was to start a new line for my mom and take her contract price and give her my phone. However she never had an iPhone or smartphone so I'm going to let her get a new phone and I'll wait til my upgrade date. My phone is literally only like 3 months old after going from a black to a white so I can deal. I'm excited for her. She's only getting the 8 gig 4, but it's gonna be awesome for her.
