The US Apple site is still showing a 24 hour shipping window. But I am hopeful. Something will happen next Tuesday...will it be the MacBook Air, Mac Pro or the much anticipated iMac?

Yeah, I saw all three, iMac, Macbook Air, and Mac Pro are all shipping within 24 hours today. Therefore to me it seems unlikely there will be a refresh of any of them on tuesday. I'm guessing it might be awhile before we see a refresh, maybe not until the fall.

Ain't it supposed to come new GPU's from ATI very soon? Around fall I think. May see an update then.

The 2010 refresh may be an Evergreen refresh rather than Southern Islands, because they still have UVD2 and Eyefinity (rather than UVD3 and "Eyefinity+")

Amazon.co.uk has discontinued both iMac 21.5 inch models - they're now only available to buy from third party sellers.

I think this is the sign of a refresh. A couple of weeks ago, they just had the message of 'Currently Unavailable', but now thats disappeared.

Pretty cool…
Of course, I have been saying July for weeks.

The update really should be soon. Thinking about it, they should be out before the 12 month mark, but that would be around September and might take some gloss off the annual iPod event so July/August sounds right.

Hi, I am looking to buy a new iMac, but I am willing to wait for Apple refresh if it is soon.

Do you guys all think it is soon (I see July 13th as a posted date in this thread)

I think we will see a MacBook Air refresh this tuesday and that the iMac will be upgraded in August. Another possibility would be that Apple discontinues the MacBook Air because of the Ipad. If so, we could see an iMac refresh this week, though i dont believe in it. The refresh could very well be in Fall of god forbid next year. Nobody knows.

Indeed nobody knows, but one can make an educated guess that in some circumstances can be much more likely than "anything" (considerably better than chance, for example). The best speculation on date and specs I've seen is mine here (part of the reasoning is on previous posts). Do you have any other reasons to think August or later?

Thanks for these, been looking for them :) 2010 seems to be just renamed Evergreen just like you said. Blackcomb looks very promising as it has 256-bit mem bus thus is likely based on Cypress chip, meaning that we will finally get something much better than ATI 4850 (5850 is hardly an upgrade).

I just think the MacBook Air is in more Need for an Upgrade than the iMac, and i don't think its too much of a Problem for Apple because I guess they'll just put the same NVIDIA 320M and the same C2Ds in there as they put in the MacBook/ pro and Mac mini. They have the Hardware and Drives at Hand and MacBook Air really needs an upgrade if it is to survive.
The second Point i guess is the fact that its Not yet Time for the iMac according to the Buyers Guide, that would suggest an upgrade in September.

No one really knows.
Most of the responses guess the refreshed iMacs might street somewhere between August to October.

Certain people have been throwing out dates they believe the iMacs will be released but the fact of the matter is that they also just do not know.

The consensus is if you really need an iMac buy it now (if you can buy the iMac with the i7 processor for the most bang for your currency).

Re:

Maybe an entirely new model? Like from iMac g3 to g4?
Not just a bigger screen, etc. but an entirely new iMac?
probably not, seeing as how the Mac Mini was updated to match the iMac more closely... :apple:

I think an update (which is sure to happen in the next 5 weeks (this tuesday or next month) will just be a bump in specs...no form factor change. I really hope one happens soon...I will order my 27" the day it is released!

Do yourself a favor and NEVER try to edit a video on windows.

Just to add fuel to the fire, Best Buy online still has not replenished their stock of i5 27" iMacs (went from backorder to OOS about mid June), but finally have new stock of Mac Pros after being OOS for weeks, which some people may interpret to mean that if a refresh were to happen this week the iMac is perhaps a better candidate than the MP.

After the Arrandale saga on the MBP forums I have little faith in stock levels as a firm indication of an imminent refresh, but it is another data point nonetheless.

At this point it is anyone's guess. If I were Steve Jobs I would want to time the release of my highest volume computers prior to all the kids going back to college. Using that logic it seems that the iMac would be next in the line up since the volume laptops have already been updated. That being said - the Mac Pro and MacBook Air are longer over due for an update than the iMac. If the iMac isn't updated this month...I strongly suspect it will be in August. I don't think that Jobs wants to have an iMac refresh competing with the iPod updates due in September.

I suspect you are correct. If there is no iMac refresh in July/August, it will probably be in October.

If I had to venture a guess, the iMac and MBA will see refreshes over the next two months and the MP in September. The MBA is pricey, but still a capable notebook for most students and much lighter than a MBP so I could see its update being somewhat important for back-to-school season. People buying Mac Pros will likely not care about the iOS devices anyway (other than perhaps as a development target), so I don't think there should be too much concern about splitting attention.

Hopefully by tomorrow we will see more evidence either way that an update is soon. I am tired of waiting...and my six year old Gateway PC is ready to retire!!!

I am hoping they announce a new iMac with an updated GPU and an updated intel chip. Everything else seems fine.

If there are i5's in the either of the 21.5" models (or even as an upgrade option), I'll buy in a heart beat!

Otherwise, the form factor and the screen are just perfect.

Chances for a refresh this week are very likely. I can confirm that another store close by is saying it's very hard to get iMacs in stock and the problems they're facing are identical in patterns of dates:stock to previous situations where new products have been released.
