I've had my iPad 2 since launch and have since ditched my laptop and only use my Windows tower for hosting/backing up media on my home network.
The usage of my game consoles, TV, BluRay player, and Roku boxes have all decreased drastically. The piles of past issues of magazine are gone from my house--they are all on my iPad. Train schedules? On my iPad. The letter to Santa I typed up for my son? On my iPad. And yes, I used the screen, not a keyboard. And when I wanted to show everyone at work how cute it was, the letter was up in iCloud without me having to do anything. Didn't even have to reach into my bag and get the iPad. My wife's grandma's 80th birthday slide show? Done very easily (while riding the train to and from work at that!) on my iPad. I have cancelled BluRays in Netflix (since we rarely watched them) and whenever we want a brand new release in HD, I rent it on my iPad and hook it up to my HDTV. Works beautifully.
My point is, I have little use for a computer anymore. No, I'm not a power business user or a professional writer. But most people aren't. For the every day stuff, the iPad certainly can replace a computer and it IS most certainly a content creation device.
