Oh man, I just downloaded splash top....this might be one of the best apps that I could download. Especially since I have the 16gb mini...more often than not I'll have access to my laptop when I need to do productive work. Wow, thanks!

Glad you like it! I've found it invaluable since getting it and it adds another element of function to my tablets. :D

Coupled with the Mini, its turned my little tablet into a superb remote desktop machine.

Can I suggest something prodiuctivity based but slightly different?

I use Splashtop 2 to remotely access my Windows Machine on my iPad and Android tablets. iTunes link. Works great over my local wireless network. It pretty much lets me do everything my PC can do on my tablet. Works on OS X too but I haven't used it on Mac for a while.

Some examples (click for full size - these are screenshots from my iPad):

iTunes on the Mini:

VirtualBox on my Mini (Windows 8 & XP at the same time).

LibreOffice on the Mini.

I have been known to spend hours playing Civilization V on my tablets over Splashtop. The only pain is it'll require you to have your MacBook on whilst using it but if you're at home and want to do some work whilst in bed or on the couch on the Mini, Splashtop might be handy!

EDIT: On "sweetness", the iPad Mini has fast become my most used gadget and by far my favourite. I don't leave home without it any more. :D

this is really interesting.
does splashtop support windows 8 touch gestures??

Yep. Full multi touch and swipe gestures. The only gesture I have issues with on iOS is the swipe down from the top to close as it sometimes invokes the notification tray.

awesome. I have a windows 8 laptop. ill just leave it on all the time as a windows 8 'server' and i can access it anytime using my ipad downstairs. Thanks!

btw, do you know if it'll support hi-dpi? ie. 2048 x 1536???

Yep, I went to the Apple store the other day to get my mini replaced with a charging issue, and asked the genius guy about mini vs. regular ipad. He agreed with me that he liked the mini better as his personal device, and had one stuck in his pants pocket. I also noticed other employees there with the same.
