The iPhone Pro should atleast have USB C if its gonna claim its a pro device come on.

Why the hell does it start at 64GB? No Apple Pencil support? Why no higher refresh rates for the display?

Because if we had all that Apple would start the price at 1600 dollars....would you pay that much for all of that?

It doesn't need to have all of that but it can totally add some of those things without a price increase.
In my country the Note 10+ costs the same as the smaller iPhone Pro and it has the Samsung pen, USB C and much larger base storage.

Only thing it misses is the high refresh rate.

Sorry but Apple needs to catch up.

Of course it’s a Pro device. You can tell because it says so right in the name.

Two years ago everyone was up in arms about USB-C. Now it's not a "pro" device unless it has it? I don't get it.

Pencil support, on a phone, really? What would we do with it?

The higher refresh rate I agree with, though.

At the end, it's all just market segmentation, as someone said, same as with the iPads and MacBooks.

I wasn’t one of those people though? I’ve been a big believer in USB C since day one. I actively go out of my way and purchase products with it. Apple themselves said something that the reason the iPads have USB C is cos it’s a pro feature and well now we have a pro iPhone so give us USB C. I mean I don’t even know why you’d be against it?

secondly, why pencil? Have you seen the note? It has gimmicky features with the S Pen but a whole lot of utility too.

Even though I love apple and plan on getting this 11proMax, the pro branding really leads you to believe something extra compared to what's essentially a S upgrade.

The problem with "Pro" is that there isn't anything you can do with the "Pro" that can't be done with the 11. If there was a CPU difference you could maybe justify it, but the 11 is just as fast.

11 has 2/3 of the cameras of the Pro.

So that means in Apple's eyes - pro means a telephoto camera and an OLED screen.

That said, it's just a name, who cares.

OP you don't have to justify your purchase, if its a 'pro' device to you then that's all that matters. To others its the third iteration of the ageing X design with a faster processor and better cameras with the word 'pro' tagged on to entice customers. Dont worry about it.

Next year. iPhone 12 Pro Pro. Everyone one knows that double consonants mean speed. Branding will be iPhone PP. We’ll have the regular and big PP.

The Pro branding is clearly a simple market segmentation.

Ever since the iPhone 8, Apple really wanted the regular customers to get the regular iPhone (in this case, the 11). Thus the branding of just iPhone 11. It is THE iPhone for 2019. The IPhone 11 Pro is the premium/cutting edge model for customers at the ultra premium segment. The XR and XS branding were a bit confusing because Apple already used the iPhone X in the previous year. This year, it’s more clear cut, and the bigger price gap between the 11 and 11 Pro shows the intention. Apple really want to segment their customers.

The same thing with the iPad and iPad Pro. The price difference between the regular iPad Air and the iPad Pro is huge.

Lucky for us, at least on the iPhone side, the iPhone 11 uses the same exact chip as the Pro. I can see Apple differentiating these segment even further in the future. I can see the regular iPhone getting milder refreshes each year, while the pro iPhone gets most of the bells and whistles (with the price tag as well)
Agree completely, this type of segmentation has occurred since the 8, but now Apple is spelling it out for the consumer...Last year was the same type of segmentation only the Xs did not receive the Pro moniker...

I agree that Apple has been totally inconsistent about several things, USB-C being one of them. It's like different parts of the organization never talk or even look at the other's ads.

Pencil - yes. I'm a big believer in apps like Notify and I use the Pencil a lot to mark up Word and Acrobat docs. I just don't see it on a screen this small? I could be wrong.

Ah see about that second point, you’d think you wouldn’t use it really but a friend who is switching from a Note to iPhone 11 often used to write on it while the screen was off and someone said something, he could have signed his rental agreements that way too etc. there are uses for it.

Apologies for being hostile initially

Can it run AutoCad or Solidworks? No
Can it run Photoshop? No
Can it run FinalCut Pro or Adobe Premier? No
Can it run xCode or any programming environment? No

There is nothing Pro about this iPhone. By the way, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 pretty much do all of what you mentioned.

“Pretty much” quote/unquote. Untrue! No one has even caught up to the last chip Apple used. Running photoshop doesn’t make a phone a pro tool. It’s a phone. Are you really doing autocad on a phone? Ever? Would you want to? Hell are people REALLY creating detailed complex spreadsheets or word docs on a phone....even? Come on!

All his talk about Pro terminology and everyone is missing the fact that they’re still on a Roman numeral system. They want us to call it iPhone 2. Thats the real story.

People are crying about just a little upgrade this year and what is so pro about this device, it’s just a refresh, same screen, blah blah blah.

What smart phone has a screen that is 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio? - only 11 pro
What smart phone is capable of 1200 Nita peak brightness? - only 11 pro

I'm not knockin the iPhone, but the S10 is capable of over 1200 nits peak brightness and 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

Thanks, no problem, and I could be wrong. When they first introduced pencil support on the iPads, I figured I'd never have any use for it. Notify and PDFExpert have literally changed how I work, in really good ways. So who knows, maybe a pencil on an iPhone would, too, but I'm just not imagining it now?

What smart phone is as water resistant at the 11 pro? (4 meters for 30 min?) - only 11 pro
What smart phone can record 4K 60fps with HDR? - only 11 pro
We’ll have to wait and see what the A13 chip can due but I’m fairly confident it’s the most powerful chip in any smart phone out to date
Ok triple camera systems are being used by a lot of smart phones. But I also fairly believe this will be the best camera set up in a smart phone to date. Even probably taking the pixels crown.

What’s not pro about this device? I think apple truly made the best smart phone on the planet with the 11 pro. Of course little features might be missing but people are not giving credit where credit is due.

Wowee!!
They should at least double the Price!!
