My flip phone from 2001 had one! It was great

We can go to the moon, but Apple can't add a ****** Notification Light???

OH MAN! Really??? I've been with Blackberry for over 13 years, I think I am going to try the iphone 6- but that notification ligt not being present is going to suck, for me anyhow.

Saphire screen means absolutely nothing to the consumer.

I want a Note-esque stylus.
And small bezels!!

Curiously nobody responded to my original post. I was simply pointing out that there's a difference between what people expect to get from the iPhone 6, and what it will feature. Most people care about a more scratch resistant screen. Few care about the other features. According to Kuo however, the scratch resistant screen won't come.

That's only because that supposed feature has been hyped by many rumour sites (MR included).

If you had asked someone a few months ago, I doubt that many people would have said the same thing.
Anyway, I'm sure the feature people actually want is a larger screen - that seems to be the general consensus.

Thank you for speaking on behalf of all of us (every consumer in the world), and especially for voicing our Stylus Envy.

We've appreciated your role this year. Expect the stipend for this position to appear on your next Direct Deposit slip.

Why :apple:has never introduced an indicator light is beyond me...

The flashing camera LED does not count, as phones are most often back down.

And even when you can see it it doesn't even count because it's there really for accessibility reasons, and under normal circumstances most people don't want to the room to light up with notifications or seem like they are taking photos of someone constantly as notifications come in while they are using the phone perhaps.

I doubt people want all these. Waterproof is far from important. Why take your phone near or around water?

My wife killed one by accidentally dropping it in the laundry basket. And another was killed when caught in an unexpected very heavy shower whilst rounding up the horses in the field. The heavens just opened.

Yes, waterproof to IP7 standard would be fantastic and save me £400 over the last year alone.

Oh and on topic. I would want an integrated pico projector as well.

Things I'll never get and thus why I'll never buy an Apple mobile device:

OS X and a built-in stylus.

What is the point of a built-in stylus? Surely if you want a stylus you'd want one you can put in your hand?

Are you trying to be funny by being too literal, or do you truly not understand what a built-in stylus is? If the latter, see the Samsung Galaxy Note series for examples. If the former, don't quit your day job.

Generally when people say built in stylus they mean a stylus built into the device that is purpose built for a wacom digitizer (or a digitizer with similar functionality).

My HTC One M8 has a subtle green LED indicator built into the speaker grille and it works beautifully.

I suppose you can't really miss what you've never had. Like people who are fine with their automatic transmission sports coupe, because they've never experienced a crisp 6 speed manual.

I can say that since I got the first iPod Touch in 2008, (and later iPhones and iPads) i've never had a single scratch on a screen. It feels like solid glass to me, and it's never let me down. Unless sapphire crystal feels like a sexy womans naked body, i'm not too concerned about its omission.

Oh lighten up dude. The sun will come up again in the morning :)

Heck my palm v had a stylus, and a place to slot it in when not using it. As does a Nintendo DS and many more devices. The strength of the iPhone/iPad when it was launched was that it actually doesn't need any of such devices to operate. We seem to be wanting to go full circle and backwards.

(emphasis mine)

Notification light has existed for some time.

Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> LED Flash for Alerts

Not really a "notification light". It flashes when a message comes through, at the exact moment it comes through. That's it.

A stylus??? Really? That would be horrible IMO. I like using the built-in stylus attached to my palm.

If we don't get a sapphire screen there is a good reason for it. I don't want a scratch resistant screen if it's gonna shatter when my phone falls off the couch.

Okay happy-go-lucky smart guy, you think any of these recent devices with built-in styli need the stylus to operate? It's okay to admit that Steve Jobs was wrong. And now that he's dead Apple can actually move forward, but I don't see that happening with their current leadership. It's more like followship. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple had a built-in stylus within two years.

So you think Apple was wrong releasing the iPhone iPad without any of that whilst there were plenty of devices with a stylus available? Seriously...wow I wish I'm wrong when defining a whole new segment and making billions. So according to you they've lost out.

We'll see what the future brings, following others and bumping a little thing here and a stylus there is not going to be it now is it?
