Since reading that in 2017 Apples 10 year anniversary of the original iPhone, there will be major improvements in the iPhone 8s if it's named 8.
All the information is right here at our forum https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-8/

My plan after reading this is to keep my iPhone6 till the 2017 iPhone hits the market, as i really don't see any real need to upgrade till 2017.

Great if you want to keep your iPhone 6 until then. But let's wait until 2017 to find out what the iPhone 8 is all about.

I am thinking the same thing. My phone works fine. I have no reason to upgrade from the rumors. It will actually be a downgrade to me if they get rid of the headphone jack although I understand why they're doing it.

I'm also debating a wait until 2017 to replace my 6.
My alternative plan is to get a 6s on discount next month and keep a phone with a headphone jack for years to come. I use it enough.

The 2016 iPhone hasn't even been officially announced yet. Why make decisions based on rumours about a phone in 2017? All the information in the link you provided is speculation and guessing. For all we know, every word of it will be wrong.

But then why would you get the 2017 phone? The 2018 Phone will be better because that will be the S version. The 2017 phone will have the new design and the 2018 version will beef up the internals!

I will get the new iPhone this year because that’s what I do every other year. It will be a great user experience. I will skip next year’s iPhone and get the 2018 iPhone which will be even better than next year’s iPhone. I have a routine and it works. Haven’t had a reason yet to change it.

I also predict this year’s iPhone will be considered a workhorse for years to come because Apple isn’t burning a lot of calories trying to dazzle people with a physical redesign. It will be solid under the hood. You know, what should matter, but doesn’t seem to for a lot of people chiming in this year. Reliability isn’t sexy and doesn’t get clicks.

These threads are important, as it gives people a chance to discuss their opinions.
Maybe you don't care who is skipping the iPhone7, but other just might care to read about it.

They aren't. You're an adult, wait until Apple announces the new iPhone and its features and then make a decision. You all sound like children stomping your feet and banding together to boycott the iPhone 7 like anyone really cares, especially Apple.

I think these threads are the result of people buying things they don’t actually need and they want to feel confident in their decision through group think. A lot of other people feeling the same way puts them at ease.

With issues of the touch on the 6 I think people should upgrade to the 6s or 7 personally. 6s could be had for cheaper so might be worth doing that if the 7 isn't what you want.

That’s why I think if you can afford it it’s a good practice to just put yourself on an upgrade cycle routine sight unseen. Barring something like, I dunno, an exploding battery, you know you have the best iPhone because it’s the current iPhone. There’s seldom a compelling need that makes you upgrade. I don’t need to be convinced by new features, rumored features, or people’s opinion of them. There are probably things under the hood that I'm benefitting from that I'm not even aware of or care to know about.

Some people have financial restrictions but others just have this need to feel like Apple is responding to their personal needs directly. Good luck with that. For every “users are demanding….!” you’ll find an equal or greater amount of users who don’t care about that.

But why setting for that when the 8 will be out in 2019? If you wait until 2019, you might as well wait until 2020 for the 8S!

Don't understand the hostility here. If the most pathetic thing s person doesneith their life isndiscuss in a forum their decision on buying a phone I'd say that's a pretty solid life lol. It's also amazing to me that people chime into a thread just to say they don't like it. Couldn't keep scrolling? Clearly we have different definitions of pathetic.

As to the OP, we are in a similar place. I am looking forward to yhensupposed Apple Watch 2 reveal though.

Neato. I'll enjoy the 7 until the 8 comes out. These threads need to stop. No one cares if you are skipping the 7.
But people care that you're keeping the 7?
Exactly, it's quite pathetic.
So you're criticizing people who are disclosing their personal phone choices in an anonymous message board. Yet in your anger towards people being "pathetic" with their over-sharing then we all know everything about your own personal phone choices because you're yelling it out just as loud as everyone else.

Its a discussion board. Once a year a new phone comes out and a lot of people show up to express themselves and have discussions. Its like this every year so if you're really going to get this emotional over it now at pre-release then what are you going to do when the phone actually comes out? J
