Dunning–Kruger effect on display right here folks!

The irony of you invoking the Dunning Kruger effect is that you are actually illustrating it. The effect describes people who dismiss or underestimate ideas they do not fully understand. I am making a point rooted in pricing psychology, brand positioning, and luxury marketing strategy, all of which go far beyond spec sheets. Apple is not just a technology company, it is one of the most successful luxury brands in the world.

If you think this is simply about features for price, you are missing the entire point of how Apple has historically shaped perception and demand. The Watch Edition examples, the original MacBook Air pricing, and even the way Apple sells accessories all prove that Apple uses pricing as a tool to define value, not just as a reflection of hardware cost.

So before throwing around buzzwords, take a moment to understand the argument.

Considering mine wont connect to external devices made by the manufacturer (AWA and AP Pro 2), I’d say anything over a dime is overpriced. Where did Apple’s QA go? This is the worst rollout ever.

I have yet to pay >$500 out of pocket for an unlocked (and non-carrier-juiced with more expensive monthly subscription plan) mobile phone. Last one was S25u 512 GB that came in ~$470 after rebates and incentives. The device itself at retail price was >$1400!

More than $1k outlayfor any mobile device is out of the question.

Yeah, I also quit my plans to buy this. Not worth the effort at the current cost. Feels so cheap. I would consider it if they would have sold the same phone at 1799 or more. Heck, I might still buy it if they just change the price. Yeah, that would have been about right. Also, that would have satiated my annual uncontrollable urge to give Apple more money. Totally.

I bet you took about an hour to research all that just to reply to my little post. You sure did put a lot of effort into it. Proud of you!

Asking for it to be more expensive?

Is this another Tim burner account??!
For a second, try to think like a strategist and not a user.

Actually, not at all. It’s clear that you’ve now conceded this debate. Thank you for your contribution.

The MacBook Air and iPad Air have never been above their Pro counterparts in terms of product placement. Having the iPhone Air at the top of the iPhone lineup would cause confusion and inconsistency.

At $999 or $1,299, in that scenario, the specs wouldn't have changed. So people would regardless see it as a stripped down Pro in that sense and then backlash would be expected.
Confusion? It’s a phone I think we can grasp the concept. But my .02 is make it the size of the X or mini. The camera is still loads better.

You come off as a narcissist, and there is no point in debating a narcissist. Just like there is no point in debating someone who falls into the Dunning-Kruger spectrum. Your tone throughout is condescending, and I stand by my original jab. It obviously struck a well-deserved chord.
