That's so much smaller than I imagined! It looks awful weak... and easily breakable.. :(

MicroUSB is about that size and Ive never had one break.

But this does seem to be more plastic than metal so im curious if we're going to see a lot of broken cables in a year.

Apple have stated there with be no iPhone 5 dock. After seeing the fragilness of this connector I'm not surprised.

Wait until you see one like I have and imagine docking anything to it.

As a cable I think it will be fine but as a dock of any sort don't hold your breath.
 
What about using the audio port (headphon jack) to help support the iPhone standing up in some sort of speaker dock?

I agree Apple probably wants stand alone units, with Airplay or Bluetooth streaming. Does seem more elegant.
