There is one significant argument for Apple to keep clinging to a tiny display. It proves the power they hold over the public to dictate how it's going to be, like it or not.

Besides it's a well known characteristic of their home market, they'll put up with anything :D

larger screen

Is is just me or does anyone else think the time has come for the iPhone to have a significantly larger screen, than what we got with the iPhone 5? Many of the other cell phone manufactures are realizing that consumers what larger screens on their smart phones, so they're making them. I hope Apple steps it up a bit or I may have to jump ship.

:)Yes, of course we need a larger screen. Its not just a phone anymore. Apple needs to get with the program. After all, its 2013. A 5.5 inch screen would be awesome but thats why we won't see it from Apple:(

The scary part is how many disciples they've got that believe it :)

This is key. I make 2-3 phone calls on my iPhone per month, but I use it every single day to write messages, browse the web and consume media. All of these things would be more comfortable, more efficient and more rewarding with a bigger screen. It's a pocket-sized computer, not a phone, so let's give it an adequately sized screen.

Who say in 2013 we need a monstrous 5.5" craphone ?
I really hope apple isn't going to follow Samsung on that ridiculous "I have a larger one display" path ...

Everything above 5" is just too much for my pocket.

If you make 2-3 phone calls/month with ... a phone (!!!!) it's your problem, dude !
There are people out there who actually use the iPhone like a phone (surprise !) that can do more than that (messages, mail, Internet and media), but that is still a phone.

4.3" screen size (ex. HTC Evo) to me is the perfect screen size for a smartphone. Not too big and not too small, its just perfect.

If the screen were bigger you'd still be able to comfortably use it as a phone. All the other features would be much improved though!

Within limits ... Anything above the 4.7-5" isn't comfortably in any way as a phone.

You can always go with an iPad Mini LTE...

Android needs better smaller-screened options.

That's the thing, all the full featured Android handsets have ballooned up well beyond 4.7 in creating this idea in some people that smaller is inferior. Sure on the Android platform you can choose a smaller screen, but it comes w/ a smaller battery, older/slower CPU, lower resolution, older software, etc.

wanted a larger screen (cause foolish me, I once drooled over those monster size phones) so I switched to Galaxy Note 1 and thought it was too big, so I came back to iPhone.. then again switched to S3, but after like 2 weeks I ended up deciding to use iPhone again.. concluding that screen size doesn't really matter if the operating system is piece of junk.

I'm the same.

I thought I wanted a larger screen. Turns out, I want an iPhone with a larger screen.

There's no better example in recent times than the thousands of (pre-mini) posts declaring how big a failure a smaller iPad would be.

Bordering on foul mouthed obscenities, the naysayers were so emotional, so certain, so angry, it was hard to believe.

How quick they were to condemn a fresh idea and new product. A stellar example of the extreme hypocrisy that lives on in AppleVille. :)

Wow!! New one on me---any chance you could link us to ANY of these 'thousands' of 'pre-mini' posts? As a regular @ MR, I just don't recall what you're insinuating. At. ALL! Maybe a couple out there---but I'm genuinely curious as to these thousands of posts. Seems to me, (most of us) the general Apple community was pretty excited with the release of the mini. Minus those that are upset with a retina screen...of course!

OH---NeverMind. You're That Guy. Again...any reason you're still here?

I don't know that I would say it NEEDS a larger screen, but I certainly wouldn't turn down a 4.3-4.5" screen on an iPhone. After playing with other OS's the only thing I really miss from those devices is the larger screen, other than that I am so glad to be back on iOS.

All of you people who say they want a bigger screen are all just trolls from an android site. Apple should go back to 3.5 it was prrrrfect.

I want a wider screen. There's no point in having a 'larger' screen unless it achieves something. Many websites scale output to screen width, so they become absurdly small on the iPhone. I want to be able to view information on the iPhone in portrait mode without having to use a magnifier...

the screen size works pretty well for me. Sure, hypothetically, the screen would probably be more enjoyable if it was bigger (say Galaxy S3 size) but I'm completely satisfied with it. As long as the applications you're using are built for the device specifically (which is no worries with iOS) you shouldn't notice a big difference.

I don't do much web browsing on my iPhone. I do more on my Nexus 7 (great device, btw) but I mostly stick to dedicated apps for the content I want to consume + Tapatalk 2.

The screen size becomes an issue once you outgrow your own expectations of what you expect for a device.
