The price cut didn't/doesn't bother me at all.

What bothers me is that the refunds were handed out so arbitrarily.

As I was reading the accounts of who got one and who didn't and tried to find out if my store would issue me a refund, I felt like I was in Stalinist USSR trying to buy razor blades or toilet paper.

To me, that is the big embarassment/source of annoyance, not the actual price cut.

Sobe:

What arbitrariness of refunds you are referring to? There was just too many discussions here on that for me to find out who all got a refund. Can you provide a quick summary?

I'm ok with it since I bought one after the price break, although I do feel the $100 credit is a great decision since most companies would do nothing.

The way I see it. I was no problem willing to buy the iPhone at $600. Seemed cheap to me for all I got.

From there, with the price drop, I see it like this, I got to have it for 2+ months and now I get a free Apple Bluetooth piece out of it. Not bad at all

This poll is a bit one-sided. Believe it or not, everyone doesn't look at the "Price Cut" as a horrible thing, thereby having the most positive answer be "unbothered". Where is "happy", and "absolutely thrilled" about it?

I'm actually THRILLED about it, and no, I don't get some kind of kinky thrill from being "ripped off". I don't think I was ripped off at all, as many other purchases have said... I paid what I paid, when I paid it. I *needed* a new phone, and Apple charged what it felt it needed to at the time.

Now, however, instead of wondering about the future of the platform, I think its even brighter! I'll be able to share with more people who will be able to afford it now. As Apple expands the software, they will have even more leverage to reinvest in the platform and secure great deals for its customers. I mean, all the car integration is great, but I think there's really much more room to grow. Right now Apple OS X, as a mobile platform is young. More adopters are better. Nokia has already begun copying the iPhone, and will soon be releasing a new version of its N95 for the US for $600+. Now moving to $400, I can only breathe a sigh of relief that this make or break product won't cause Apple to implode.

In what circumstance would I feel ripped off? If I found out that at the time I purchased my iPhone for $600, Apple was selling iPhone's in the states of California, Maine, and North Dakota for $400 because the CEO felt they were "good people". Or worse, unknown to me, everyone EXCEPT Massachusetts was paying $400, and we were paying $600, because Apple felt we had more money on average. Instead... EVERYONE had the same price, and decided if it was the best time for them to buy or not.

A friend of mine cancelled early from Sprint to go to the iPhone. His contract was up this month, so he spent $175 to quit about 1 1/2 months early. Now, if he'd simply waited until this month when he'd originally planned to switch, he'd have saved $375. Should he blame Apple, or himself? If it were me, I'd blame myself.

I agree with most of the points from Scott Bourne's post from the Apple Phone Show blog, and added my own additional reason in the commenters section:

It's A Good Thing!

I agree with this post. The more users, the better for all of us. Apple will hopefully now have even more motivation to reinvest in this platform and improve it for all of us. I'm excited to see the possibility for even greater market penetration.

The more iPhone users, the better!
Keep selling them!
