One of the reasons I miss in many ATV4 discussions is that without the Remote App I can not easily select and play music for my receiver (music audio system) without turning on the tv. I use the remote App for that.
Sure you can play music with the Music App and use Airplay, but there are a couple (very important) reasons why this is not a solution:
(1) it takes a long time to load a large music iTunes library
(2) my iphone is busy redirecting my music, so I can not leave the house and leave the music on (for other people)
(3) my iphone is busy redirecting my music, so I can not play anything with audio on my iphone
(4) my iphone is busy redirecting my music, so it drains my battery
The Remote App is a great tool as a visual remote to select music fast and easy.
Without that it is practically impossible to use ATV as an easy iTunes audio streamer without using my tv.
Actually, with the current Remote app, using it with ATV 4, if you choose your library, start playing a song and then tap the AirPlay icon and choose the Apple TV as the output the music will continue playing even if you switch your iPhone off.
It's because it's streaming the music from iTunes on your Mac, rather than from the iPhone itself. Switch your iPhone back on, select your library and it will be right where you left it.
So you can leave the house, it doesn't drain your iPhone battery and you can do other things on your iPhone (for instance, start playing Apple Music and the original audio will still continue on the Apple TV, not what you are playing in Apple Music on your iPhone.)
