The It's Here Thread - 3G iPad Quick Thoughts And Comments

Mine is going to my UPS Store box, so I don't have to worry about signing for it. Plus Fedex tends to deliver there before noon, so I'm hopeful it will show up soon.

3G Activation

I just activated my 3G account WITHOUT accessing my wifi. It was short and painless. Probably took 3-5 minutes total.
 
What surprises me is when I had my iPhone their was never full signal,now on the iPad I get full AT&T signal.
 
Well my 64GB 3G iPad is unboxed, sitting in it's dock syncing with my MBP as I type this. Can't wait to start playing!😀
First thoughts as this is the first iPad I have gotten to physically touch is, nice weight, not to heavy or light. Display is beautiful. After syncing all my apps, music and videos. Next step activate and speed test the 3G. Then off to find a couple good books to read in iBooks and start using a few of the apps.
 
Arrived at 11:53 AM EST 93% charged

It is here and syncing as we speak. Yep, one of those poor fools that bought iPad apps before arrival so setup of apps was just a matter of choosing the apps to sync...

Speaking of which - in the iTunes sync selection on iMac, apple does p*ss poor job of letting you identify apps that are iPad only. So unless the developer/vendor identify it as the iPad version of the app in the name...can be hard to differentiate duplicates from your iPhone library.

Honestly... sort of slow.

I used the FCC Mobile Broadband Test app and found that I was getting on average about half the speed of my iPhone. Hmmm...

I'll need to play more.

I'm going to finish syncing my music now.

I agree with you on this! took me a few minutes to figure out whats what.
 
Can anyone run a speed test with the 3G? would like to see what you speeds you are getting before i go get in line.

Got it in

Looks just like the Wifi model but it just has the black strip and a place on the side for the Sim. Syncing now. I won't be signing up for 3G until I actually go somewhere, so can't comment on speed.

Mine came 10 minutes ago!!!! It's on the dock syncing now!! Still displaying the "waiting for activation" but it says "sync in progress" so I imagine once that's done it will go away. Then it's off to connect to my airport extreme, get 3G, and start playing with the apps and getting it all fixed up! YAY! :apple:😎:apple:😀
 
Got my 64GB version and signed up for the 250mb plan for now. Pretty painless. Then did a test on how it's 3G speed compared to my iPhone 3Gs. Typed in Yahoo" and selected both at the same time from the auto complete list. The ipad pulled up the full version in half the time that the iPhone pulled up the mobile version of Yahoo.com. Don't know why the iPhone went to the mobile version, but oh well. Very impressed. Oh, both devices have 5 full bars in side my home.

Finally the wait is over.
 
Just got mine. I am transferring the purchases off the WiFi model I have into iTunes and am about to sync the 3G one. Will report back with some speed tests.

Yeah, that's seriously unfortunate. When viewing your already synced apps in the main Apps window of iTunes (under Library), the Grid view has a nice separation of apps by device. Too bad that isn't available in the sync window...
 
Syncing tons of movies and apps now! I fly out on holiday tonight... the iPad is going to be so sweet on the flight. 😀
