I use the Seidio Surface Beltclip Holster, same one that works for all Plus and Max models fit across the board. Doesn't feel weighted down, protects the screen, and its out of the way.

Holy ****. This guy knows about the secret that is hybrid beach shorts. They are the best.

and i also fully agree, the only time i dislike my 8+ is during summer when i always wear the hybrids. Other than that i love the big size phone.

can you pm me which hybrid shorts you buy? Looking to pick up more.
Except for college and some post-college years I have lived near the beach my entire life. Hybrid shorts are AWESOME..

I could probably utilize the 11 Pro Max but I just do not find the size comfortable when using. It is too large for my hands and it is uncomfortable in the Otterbox with the belt clip. This is obviously a PERSONAL opinion when I say it is just too big. It works for plenty of others and that is GREAT as it is a PHENOMENAL device. Thankfully Apple makes a smaller model with the same exact specs. :)
Feel the same. What I notice with the Max is how much I have to shift my hand to get two where I want to be. I can hold the phone in one hand and use with one hand..I just have to manipulate it around in that hand to use. With the 11 it is less and with the 11P it is minimal.

Agreed. I think typing one handed (with the one handed keyboard)is pretty comfortable on a max but general navigation does require constant re-adjustment. It is a proper 2 handed device really.

When presented with multiple options we have a tendency to hyper-focus on and magnify the differences in our minds. If Apple only offered a 6.5" display, I bet most of us would just use it without thinking twice about the size. In other words, the difference between the 5.8" and 6.5" really isn't all that big (188 grams vs 226 grams, they are identical in thickness, and the Max is only 1/5 inch wider and 1/2 inch taller), but because you bought the "bigger" / "Max" phone, you're always paying extra attention to the size. This is what makes the decision between the two so difficult (the fact that they are so similar). My advice is just enjoy whichever version of the phone you have and try to forget you even have an alternative available, because it will drive you crazy.

I tried the XS Max last year but, found it extremely unpocketable (if that’s a word). I returned it for a XS which is the perfect size for me. This year I also went with the smaller 11 Pro.

My pockets are deep enough that carrying my Pro Maxis no problem. But I often carry a small sling bag and it has a dedicated padded pocket for a phone and it works awesome. This is for daily use rayon summer when I tend to wear shorts or track pants and dress light as possible.

Don’t wear jeans that are too tight, it’s not good for health
I hear you Dragon4ever - while I never carry my phone in my jean pockets, it’s quite noticeable to carry in some jacket pockets. So if that is not possible I usually always wear a laptop bag, or rucksack to and from work or when I’m out and about. So the phone goes in there in a Fitbag sleeve without further protection - no case or panserglass.

Right now I decided on the 11 Pro coming from the Max. I love the phone, but can’t help shake the feeling that I should have gone with the 11 Pro Max - but the normal 11 Pro is definitely more manageable. Battery a bit shorter then on my previous Max.
:p

I love the bigger screen and the extra battery life, but carrying the phone around is uncomfortable and isn’t very practical. As a matter of fact, I have to buy new pants with deeper pockets because the ones I currently have now all make the iPhone stick out and end up jamming my hip when I sit down. How do you cope with larger phones when it comes to portability?
Lol you need to bought new pants with bigger pockets😁 I also like the screen and longer battery life. Most likely I am going to return it. Other day I was at bestbuy and picked up galaxy s10 series and was really surprised to feel its weight. Went there today & bought s10e. This is the best size and weight for me. Price was not the issue. I am hopeful apple will bring light weight phones in future. I still have old iPhones, I don't feel like giving them away specially my iPhone 7 plus jet black. Although 7 plus has same size but it's much lighter than current pro max model.

I have an 8 Plus and although it’s nice using a bigger phone, I don’t think people ever completely get used to it. Sitting in the car and it digging into your pelvis. Most jeans now coming with shallow pockets etc. It can be a right pain in the backside.

thanks I needed this, was so torn on the two 😂

Went from the 6+ to the X two years ago. Sure I miss the extra screen real estate while holding the phone in my hand, but the X is unnoticeable in my pocket. I had to remember to take my 6+ out of my pocket before I got in the car or walked up stairs or went hiking. Total PITA. The trade off of having the smaller form factor is well worth it, especially now that the bezels are so small. 5.8” is still so much nicer compared to when we had been coping with 3.5” screens all the way up to the fifth generation of iPhone.

The pro max is noticeably heavier than the 6 plus I just moved from. But I can never go back to a smaller phone.

Using SE, got the 11.

- It is a bit too big in pocket and hand. Lovely performance and screen. Camera is terrific. When my wife got the X we thought the camera was a quantum leap, but the 11 is far better once more.

- Putting down the 11 and lifting the SE again: It feels a lot better. Screen is still good, missing camera performance and battery life, even though SE is good on stamina. Touch ID gen. 1 is still perfectly ok. So much easier in my pocket and nice to reach all of the screen.

First world problems... The 11 Pro-size would probably be a nice compromise, but I do not want to pay that much.

I usually purchased the smaller size but I went with the max this time and although it can be cumbersome, I’m using it far more for media consumption such as watching Netflix and my iTunes movies. I am also not needing to zoom in on web pages anymore.
It’s a trade off I’m willing to do this year for the bigger screen.

I'm someone who used a plus-sized phone for 3 years and couldn't not take it any longer. I had the iPhone 7S Plus and XS Max.

My usage:
  • I read a lot. I don't own an iPad, so the XS Max was brilliant for that purpose.
  • Battery life was beyond great for my usage (2 working days).
  • Because of the screen size, I used it a lot more for work, like editing slides and documents when I'm without my laptop. I felt like a productivity machine, and the sense of satisfaction of being able to do work that way was pretty interesting, to say the least.
Don't get me wrong, all those things were great. But I'm commenting here because this thread title really captured what I felt about my plus-sized phone. It was indeed both a joy and agony to use everyday, and the pros outweigh the cons so much that I put up with it for 3 whole years.

It was heavy, and uncomfortable to leave in my pockets whenever I sat down. I work in tech, so I wear t-shirts and jeans (Not skinny jeans btw—I'll downvote every red herring argument I see).

Like jakja83, I was looking for a smaller form factor when the iPhone 11 was announced. But the only option in the latest lineup was the iPhone 11 Pro which was pretty expensive if I were to buy it just for the size. And hence I started looking at the iPhone 8. Almost bought one, but found a good deal for the iPhone X and copped that instead.

It's worth the trade-off to me as soon as you start taking advantage of the screen, like daily watching video on the commute for example. This is why I've switched a lot throughout the years between Plus and regular sized iPhones; purely because of my daily work/school routine.

These days for me it's: phones have expensive glass backs -> bumper case -> Max or XR/11 become even bigger -> XS

I agree, but my main usage is phone calls, text and reading email at work. If I have to write a lot of text I have my PC's keyboard synced to my phone so I can just text or reply from there. When at home I try to leave it on a shelf to spend time with the people around me.

The X or XS on sale would be a nice compromise, yes - but believe it or not: The 11 is a lot better equipped when it comes to camera compared to the X. Really surprising. Night-mode also works wonders.
