I don't know if it's a ram thing but last night while listening to youtube videos I had the audio drop a few times. Never had the same condition on the other iPhones. I fell asleep with youtube running so I don't know how long the problem persisted.

True but they are not intimate with Apple hardware and software. I'm sure a Google engineer will tell you exactly what you want to hear about an Apple iPhone.....
There's a bit of difference between defaming other companies' products and talking about well known software/computer architecture design. The latter of which is what I'd wager what Google engineers would be more inclined to do than the former. ;)

The majority of whom don't know and don't care how much RAM they have.
That's a Catch 22 type of conundrum. On the one hand, abstraction should prevent the end user from (as you said) having to care about issues such as these. But on the flip side, that they do not know can also cause a lot of confusion and misunderstandings about what really goes on, leading to the spread of misinformation and so on.

So just tried to replicate as described.

cMemory indicates 80% utilization of RAM.

No drops. No faults. No surprise.

iOS 8 bug maybe, but not RAM sorry...

For the past 1.5 years I have streamed an old time radio show from Safari while walking my dog. I do this while using Chrome, Twitter, Facebook, and other apps simultaneously. I have never once had the audio drop out on me.

Yesterday I did this after picking up my brand new 128gb 6+: I listened to audio on Safari while using other apps. My audio proceeded to cut out no less than two times as Safari was purged in the background. To reiterate, this never happened once in the hundreds of times I did this exact same procedure with my iPhone 5.

I don't know if it's because the hardware now has to drive a massive screen, or if it's merely iOS 8 teething troubles, but this is a very real problem right now. I love iOS for its rock solid dependability, that you can generally throw anything at it and it just works. Right now that is not the case.

And the thought that maybe the website had a temporary streaming problem never occurred to you?

You'd get more accurate results (in terms of replication procedure and measurements) using Xcode instead of an app running on the very device you are attempting to test instead.

It happens with iOS7 too you know....
....and iOS6....
....and iOS5....
It has just become much worse over the years, especially since iOS7.

Would you mind repeating that in English please?

It is English...

You have to be pretty thick to no recognize the relation of reloading tabs to iOS's memory management.

I listen jazz.com almost all day and have zero issues. Old was a 64 GB 5s and the new is the 64 6+ and 6. I have 2 exchange accounts, for work, IM+ open and have no issues. Are you on Wifi or LTE? I know people have been having issues with Wifi..

You know, the solution in the future may be more ram but up until Wednesday I usually didn't have tab reloads going on in Safari unless I had loads of tabs open or loads of apps open, or if I let my phone or iPad sit for a few hours (overnight, etc). It almost never happened outside of me straining the capabilities with iOS 7 and I can't recall it happening at all with iOS 6 (although I'm sure it did, I just can't remember)

So I stand my by assessment that it is probably and iOS memory management issue and not a ram issue.

You guys and your RAM..

to be honest: It sure is annoying, but I doubt it's just the RAM. With flash storage at decent speeds, all Apple needs to do is implement some kind of local caching .. Rather surprising this hasnt happened yet.
(Anyone knows if there are browsers out there on iOS who actually do this already? Chrome for e.g.?)

Ahhh, got it. So the majority of iPhone buyers are fools.

No, just the ones who don't care about what they're actually getting for their money and the possible limitations imposed by the specifications of a device. If people 'assume' that an Apple device will be the very best in every possible way, and that it will have the very best possible hardware specifications possible...and they don't bother to actually research these things, then 'more fool them'.

I guess that Apple's marketing is somewhat to blame. They charge premium prices & promise a premium experience...and most people take this as Gospel. A salesman shouldn't automatically be believed ;-)

What is the point of your replies here? Over the course of three posts, you have completely backtracked what you have said, and you're attempting to dismiss anecdotal evidence by providing your own.

Because proof was provided of same issues. It's clearly not a huge issue like the attenna on iPhone 4 and scuff issue on iPhone 5.

See the real problem here is the fact that most of us are not having an issue and are considered "fools" because of it. The folks that are having the issue have no clue what's going on so they regurgitate crap that has little substance in every thread or forum possible to sound "technical". These same people spend more time whining than researching actual phones with 2GB+ of RAM to see if the issues occurs there as well or if that phone will meet their needs. Hint: Android phones have similar and worse issue that were described on phones with 2GB+ of RAM.

It's sad because these same people feel like they are entitled and have the expectation that Apple will launch a new phone in a couple of months with 2GB of RAM to accommodate them. What I wager would happen is that the problem would continue to exist then they would be whining about needing 3GB of RAM. Circle of life....

It's actually much more of an issue. Most people put their phones in a case - and with the protruding i6 camera that's arguably a necessity anyway - and the iPhone 4 'antennagate' disappeared once the phone was cased.
With the i5 scuff issue, an exchange (or usually multiple exchanges) sorted this problem.

The browser tab and app reloading issue is another matter entirely!

There is no tab reloading on my Android tablet, which has 1.5GB of RAM.
You have misconstrued my comment and erroneously assumed that I meant that all iPhone buyers are fools. I said that if people are blind to issues or simply don't care, then 'more fool them'.
