1 GB of ram is a joke and an insult to iphone buyers.
There's a bit of difference between defaming other companies' products and talking about well known software/computer architecture design. The latter of which is what I'd wager what Google engineers would be more inclined to do than the former. 😉True but they are not intimate with Apple hardware and software. I'm sure a Google engineer will tell you exactly what you want to hear about an Apple iPhone.....
That's a Catch 22 type of conundrum. On the one hand, abstraction should prevent the end user from (as you said) having to care about issues such as these. But on the flip side, that they do not know can also cause a lot of confusion and misunderstandings about what really goes on, leading to the spread of misinformation and so on.The majority of whom don't know and don't care how much RAM they have.

For the past 1.5 years I have streamed an old time radio show from Safari while walking my dog. I do this while using Chrome, Twitter, Facebook, and other apps simultaneously. I have never once had the audio drop out on me.
Yesterday I did this after picking up my brand new 128gb 6+: I listened to audio on Safari while using other apps. My audio proceeded to cut out no less than two times as Safari was purged in the background. To reiterate, this never happened once in the hundreds of times I did this exact same procedure with my iPhone 5.
I don't know if it's because the hardware now has to drive a massive screen, or if it's merely iOS 8 teething troubles, but this is a very real problem right now. I love iOS for its rock solid dependability, that you can generally throw anything at it and it just works. Right now that is not the case.
You'd get more accurate results (in terms of replication procedure and measurements) using Xcode instead of an app running on the very device you are attempting to test instead. So just tried to replicate as described.
cMemory indicates 80% utilization of RAM.
No drops. No faults. No surprise.
iOS 8 bug maybe, but not RAM sorry...
More fool them.

Would you mind repeating that in English please?
It is English...
Thanks for that post, I just realized I misread the OP and thought he meant the Music app, which is where my audio stream came from. 🙂And the thought that maybe the website had a temporary streaming problem never occurred to you?
"more fool them"
Is that British English perhaps? I don't understand what you are trying to say.

Ahhh, got it. So the majority of iPhone buyers are fools.
What is the point of your replies here? Over the course of three posts, you have completely backtracked what you have said, and you're attempting to dismiss anecdotal evidence by providing your own.
now fast forward from 2008 to 2014 and non of this is longer true. stop spreading nonsense
you get an award for the dumbest response
No, just the ones who don't care about what they're actually getting for their money and the possible limitations imposed by the specifications of a device. If people 'assume' that an Apple device will be the very best in every possible way, and that it will have the very best possible hardware specifications possible...and they don't bother to actually research these things, then 'more fool them'.
I guess that Apple's marketing is somewhat to blame. They charge premium prices & promise a premium experience...and most people take this as Gospel. A salesman shouldn't automatically be believed ;-)
Because proof was provided of same issues. It's clearly not a huge issue like the attenna on iPhone 4 and scuff issue on iPhone 5.
See the real problem here is the fact that most of us are not having an issue and are considered "fools" because of it. The folks that are having the issue have no clue what's going on so they regurgitate crap that has little substance in every thread or forum possible to sound "technical". These same people spend more time whining than researching actual phones with 2GB+ of RAM to see if the issues occurs there as well or if that phone will meet their needs. Hint: Android phones have similar and worse issue that were described on phones with 2GB+ of RAM.
It's sad because these same people feel like they are entitled and have the expectation that Apple will launch a new phone in a couple of months with 2GB of RAM to accommodate them. What I wager would happen is that the problem would continue to exist then they would be whining about needing 3GB of RAM. Circle of life....
