Anyone playing this game. Looks like a post-apocalyptic game and seeing some videos, looks rather intriguing.

I've thought about playing it. If you get it, looking forward to your report.

I picked up the game but so far I'm a bit underwhelmed.

Its a survival game and you have to manage your hungers/thirst clothes and what not. It reminds me of the beginning of Fallout 76 where you need to keep your resources up to date and in good working order. Likewise with the Long Dark, if you let your socks get too worn, they lose their insulation ability. In many respects this doesn't make sense since clothing doesn't wear out very fast. Hunger/thirst seems to come on fairly quick as well.

The gameplay is heavily story based - at least the beginning chapters are - there's significant cut scenes. Visually its a stunning game going for an artistic flair that is pleasing

I needed to save often as once you're out in the wild you can find yourself in poor health extremely easily and its hard to recover from that. Also I found myself fading in health so quick, it was a bit off putting

I remember reading some negative reviews about how easy it is to get sick and die in that game.

Yeah, I failed to realize such a survival game where you your cloths can degrade to threadbare status in no time. I'm not interested in such micromanagement situations

I don’t know about the Long Dark, but in other similar games like ARK, and Conan Exiles there are all sorts of in-game settings where a spectrum of parameters like rates of hunger can be dialed back. Part of the problem are days that last 30 minutes (which in ARK can be adjusted, things like length of day/night) with a comparable hunger rate which just does not feel realistic to the player when you have played for 30 min, not all day. Now clothing, that is completely ridiculous for that rate of decay, but there might be a setting for that too.

Yeah, I realize that time in the game is such that an increase decay is needed but its funny that my health went down so fast after waking up because no water. We can survive 3 days without water and several weeks without food but in the game you only last a little while

As far as I can tell the game settings limited:

If you eat raw meat... you will get sick.
I enjoy the slow pace, the scrunchy snow sounds; the ambience and desolation is cathartic.
