To Radtech. I got my BT500+ mouse, it's charging via USB as we speak. Don't need to use the rechargeables, but it's a nice feature. A little small, but easy to set up and really smooth to use. Also got a black screensavrz from them. Also, just what I wanted. I ordered on Saturday and got everything on Monday, now that's FAST.

Also, I have a waterfield sleevecase and recommend it as well. But, it's not a great stand alone bag. I also ordered a STM Sphere from Radtech (I ordered it on Sunday after thinking about it longer than I should have). I got some e-mail from Radtech telling me that the 13.3 MacBook fits perfectly in the notebook compartment. I'll update when it gets here.

Have the same mouse, but bought it from BlueTake (the makers of it). Cheaper and matches the MacBook. Can't complain :)

Great mouse, by the way.

Mouse wanted

Hi all

I'm looking for a mouse for a new Black MacBook. I have the following criteria.

- Pure matt black to match the black MacBook.
- No Chrome
- No colour flashes etc.
- 2 Buttons
- Scrollwheel
- Not too big

and finally good looking.

the MacBook is for my girlfriend and I really want a mouse that will be worth the MacBook.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

My solution to the MacBook protection question has finally been put together and it works well - hope you can understand my diagram!

( ( (MacBook) Foofbag ) Crumpler School Hymn 15")

I didn't think the Foofbag would offer enough protection on its own, so the Crumpler sleeve, which I got cheapish on eBay, offers the waterproofness I need due to the hole in my backpack! I will have to replace that some time.

Do you shut down the macbook or whatever you are putting in a sleeve? When it is in sleep mode will it shutdown enough processor functions and such to not generate any heat to cause any internal overheating damage?

I've only ever slept...

I've only ever slept my MacBook and my old Powerbook before putting them in sleeves. Never had any issues doing that.

The MacBook is very cool while sleeping.

When you put the computer to sleep, it shuts down everything except the RAM, so no heat is really being created.

The only issue is that sometimes sleep can be buggy, so make sure that the sleeping light is actually pulsing before putting it into the sleeve. If it's not pulsing, the hard-drive may still be spinning, so there's a danger of damaging a HD while moving the computer around in a sleeve.

I've been moving around my PowerBook in a sleeve while its in sleep mode for years, and I've been doing it with my new MacBook now too.

I just ordered a Bitolithic Protection Pack. It's a close-fitting sleeve with zipper protectors, a screen protector, and an accessories bag in which to carry a mouse or power supply. Plus, I think the blue/orange setup is dead sexy! :D I haven't looked much into what bag I will get for holding the MacBook/sleeve combo, but that Chrome Messenger Mini looks pretty nice, Medea! :)

the screensavrz work really well on cleaning the mb case as well as the screen.

Do you use a cleaning fluid like iKlear Apple Polish or the like? I'm sort of intrigued by the concept of a screensaver-and-screen/casecleaner combo. It doesn't leave any marks or color on the case either? Thanks for the info. :)

First thanks plutnicki, medea, and especially gerbilbox for the replies.

The bitolichic looks pretty nice but looks like it doesn't provide much bump resistance. I wish this case mentioned earlier was available now it looks like it will provide a good amount of protection

Is the iLap portable, i.e. would it fit easily in a messenger bag along with the macbook?

Also, reload bags (http://reloadbags.com) sells messenger bags with the option for a detachable custom fitted laptop bag inside.

Case

The Waterfield sleeve is great. I also got an STM backpack (Sphere) and the MacBook fits perfectly in the computer section of that backpack.

Between the sleeve and that backpack, I think I have all situations covered, although, I admit that booqbag looks cool. Maybe once it rolls out in August.

i'm after a usb2 component HD in card that'll work without lag with my xbox 360 with 720p

plutnicki: what spec did you get your waterfront in? I was thinking of getting the maxed out model so I could carry it around when I only need to haul my MB around, or detach the pouch and strap when I need to use it as a sleeve inside my Hedgren shoulder bag.

tsp: Any more info on that burning love thingie? It might be a nice (=cheaper) alternative for being just a sleeve.

What about those RadTech's, do they really protect the MacBook? Around $30 seems a bit much for that piece of cloth, even though it is built to fit and looks great.

Waterfield

You mean the Waterfield sleeve?

I got it with a flap and with a shoulder strap. The little pouch seemed unnecessary to me as I would use it either stand alone (in which case I don't need to bring anything but the computer) or in another bag, which would have storage for accessories.

I'm actually using my STM Sphere backpack more and really like it.

I ordered a Waterfield sleeve w/ flap last night...i'll get the d ring and strap later...I'm looking forward to seeing how it is. I've heard nothing but great things about them.

Guess what - I've got a sleeve for my Macbook that fits perfectly. It fits perfectly because the sleeve was actually tailor made for the Macbook. Want to know where I got it?

At me mom's place!

She's a seamstress and can sew bags like nobody's business. And I got to choose the fabric! The sleeve has even got padding so that if (or rather, when) I drop the case onto the ground or the floor there will at least be some protection.

I'm nobody's fool boy.

That's exactly what my dad suggested when I talked about getting a sleeve.

Plutnicki: yeah, I meant the sleeve. Thanks for your input! Now that I think of it, the piggybag might be a bit excessive for my use too and then again, I remember you could always order the piggybag afterwards? And is yours with the normal shoulder strap or the better one (this question goes to esaldana817 too)?

But I stopped to think that maybe a basic just-a-skin type sleeve to put some fabric around the MB would be enough, I can anyway just lug the MB around in my shoulderbag. Tough call, my last paycheck will probably be the decider for the time being.

I bought an SFBags Waterfield sleevecase with flap, suspension strap, and piggyback for my old MBP. When I returned the MBP and got my MB, i bought a Brenthaven Edge I.

I continued using the suspension strap and piggyback with the new bag, as both sleeves have virtually no storage room.

I love the Edge bag, as it provides more protection, while the Waterfield Sleevecase provides little to none. Also, a cool feature of the Edge is that it's designed so that you can use the computer while it's in the case (see the third pic on the page). I thought that was stupid until I realized how many times i just want to pull my computer out really quick, but only for a few minutes - VERY convenient.

Haven't used any polish yet, just the cloth.
