my issue is that the mba is not that much more portable than a mb. it cant be. ok so nearly same ft print. only difference is thickness and weight in terms of dimensions. the day i cant carry a 5lb laptop will be a sad day. the day i pay 700 more for a savings of 2lbs will be a sadder day lol

i bet i could stuff my mb in a manilla envelope too lol

Which is more portable? One cubic meter of led or one cubic meter of cotton? Hmmm I thought you might agree there.

It is not about being 'able' to carry it. Its about preferring NOT to. :) Also, I know it is shallow and all that, but arriving in 'style' to a business meeting is a very good thing. I spend $5k+ on suits from Gieves & Hawkes to look 100% when I try to close a deal. I think the price for 'less' in this case is worth it and I would pay it even if I had to do it myself... :)

Regards,

C

mb can't fit in a manilla envelope.. well not enought to close it

and considering the weight.. you have to think about it's not the ONLY thing your carrying around.. you might have books, documents, mouse, power adaptor, a gun lol

after all that stuff saving some wieght and having a thinner laptop to fit more stuff on your backpack makes all the difference.. espcially if you walk everywhere or ride transit... if you drive hell get a 17" mbp if all you have to do is walk 30 steps to get to work or class

i agree with you. maybe i just havent hit that stage in my life yet. however i wouldnt say macbooks are unclassy but i see what you mean

Catch, good point on the image thing. Didn't bring it up though since that demographic probably isn't that big. It applies to me though. Image is everything when closing a deal.

One occasion I remember was a potential client I was emailing back and forth with, they were having questions and so on, a bit hesitant. I emailed back once on my iPhone (it includes the Sent from my iPhone in the signature). He responded back thanking me for answering his questions, then started asking me about my iPhone. He was excited to talk to about it, especially being in a country that didn't have it. I discussed the iPhone in a few emails, then closed one of my biggest deals in the past year. Worked out well!
