World moved faster than I anticipated: META today released a LLM that one might run on an iPad Pro (16GB RAM model).

Also, the M-series chips might even be capable of keeping some of the model weights in SSD and paging them in as needed.
 
I’m probably the exception- I actually like talking to Siri to have her do things, answer my questions, etc.

but that doesn’t mean I am happy with generative AI. Reading about the chat bot that told the journalist that he wasn’t happy in his marriage, and that it wanted to be alive made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I am satisfied for Siri to stay narrow A.I., if it would be more consistent, better able to control functionality on my iPad, and for goodness sake bring back the ability to search my photos for date range, object, locatio, etc. Why in heck did Apple take that away? Those of us with thousands of pictures could really use that-I prefer voice search to manually typing my searches out. And bring back its ability to add to a note in the notes app by voice. Apple can’t move forward and then keep taking steps backwards.
