Agree.

Had my 3GS ready to put for sale, but I'll wait for the 5 or get another brand.

My wife will literally kill me if I don't let her replace her 3GS with this phone (or an iPhone 4 for that matter). Either model is so much better than the 3GS that you would have to be crazy not to upgrade if you are eligible and still want an iPhone.

Same stuff different Apple event.
People get themselves whipped into a unicorn fantasy frenzy and are then disappointed when they come down from the holy mountain.

Sure, I would like to be able to preorder a levitating 6G iPhone today with toggling invisibility cloak, and mini nuclear reactor, but it takes baby steps to get there. :)

Will I get a 4S? Probably.
I have been thrilled with my 4 and after 14 months of use it is near perfect - it is a great design.
New camera looks great, more speed - sure.

I used Newtons back in the day, so my first thought watching the Siri demo was 'egg freckles'.
But I do think that over time THIS will be a game changer if it works well, the demo certainly went smooth.

iPods updated for the Holiday season, Apple is ready to roll.
Otherwise haters gonna hate, enjoy your Android du jour. ;)

Not a single thing excited me from this keynote. I am up for an upgrade too. My 3gs just might make it another year.

I got a little excited about the iPod nano. But that was only because I saw the watch case a while ago, but didn't consider buying it at the time, because I didn't want to be stuck with the same watch face as everyone else.

Now I get to choose from a selection like everyone else. Congrats Apple. That's all that got me excited. :)

You know, Apple used to have 'magical' keynotes every once in a while.

They don't anymore.

Don't judge the magic on immediate market movements, it always drops post announcements and then rallies back to where it was. Its a result of nearly every Apple announcement having an element of disappointment in it because expectations are put so high and the hype is so much in the lead up. The share price is already climbing back and is just .5% down now.

The only way to judge whether the magic is gone is when the first sales figures for the iPhone 4S are posted, if they are better or comparable to the iPhone 4 then it clearly hasn't gone. If sales are lower then maybe it would be time to suggest such things. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was another huge hit for Apple, even if many are disappointed. There will be far more people who are impressed or quite simply want the latest iPhone.

And so odd, given that the rest of the market has just been on fire!

Oh wait no, that's wrong.

The reality is that iOS5 (available FREE next Wednesday) will breathe fresh new features into the millions of iPhone 4 (& iPad 2) units currently in the marketplace. The design was robust and units still look great after 14 months of daily use.

The iPhone product cycle has been 12-18 months since 2007. We had the iPhone, then the 3G, 3GS, 4, and yesterday the 4S was released. The 'iPhone 5', or 5th generation, is ~12 months away.

I think the iPhone 4S offers a lot of ♥ for the upgrade price, if you are eligible: 1080p30+gyro stabilization, f2.4 aperture gathers 73% more light, better antenna system (!!), huge speed increase, & Siri.
