Unfortunately, Mavericks has shot the tires out of my base mid 2010 21.5". I've done clean installs etc. to no avail. Folks have been super helpful here, but... still having some problems and slowdowns.
I probably won't upgrade further until I absolutely must do so (I am hoping this 2010 will hang on for at least another 12-18 months.)
It's great that others are doing just fine (my boss has the identical iMac with less ram and she's had no issues upgrading. But she wouldn't know if her machine was faster etc. she barely uses her iMac.)
