I tried the mini but preferred my Kindle Fire HD. The mini was okay but expensive and unimpressive compared to the Kindle.

I feel Apple have lost the edge recently. The iPad 4 I tried was also singularly unimpressive. No wonder the stock had tanked!

why do most apple owners have to mention the line of apple products they already bought or have to prove a point? lol

i had the difficult choice myself of picking between an ipad mini and a ipad 3, and i picked the ipad 3. i feel the mini is redundant between an iphone and an ipad BUT the size of it is perfect for kids and women, my girlfriend is happy with her mini.

Depending on finances this year, I'm considering buying a couple mini's as gifts for family members who don't currently have tablets. i think the form factor for them would work better than the full sized iPad I'm used to. Especially since they don't currently have smartphones.

Probably the 4G model, for occasional use when away from home. It would give them something to use when on trips. Look up maps, etc, when they don't have a computer.

I think the size would be good enough for me if I hadn't already got used to reading magazines on mine.

I could tell you what compelled me to buy every Apple product I own. But as for the mini, there was nothing that compelled me to buy it. If the iPad mini is not their weakest offering, what is?

I looked at it for about 5 seconds.

The mini isn't for everyone. Guess you weren't the target market.

And oooooh special you that you can tell us why you bought every Apple product you own. Nobody here gives a crap.

Exactly.

After all these posts your anti apple:mad:

The original iPhone was such an innovation for it's time. And the releases after that took the strength from the first and improved upon them.

What do you get after that?

A few upgrades in the hardware and a prettier screen. There was no innovation so bumping out releases every year means that the products are eventually going to peeter out.

If you like any of the last releases than good for you! :) I'm not going to tell you you're stupid for liking them.

I love the iPhone 5 even though there's nothing new in terms of what it can do. I love the aesthetic, the size of it. But I'm not going to defend that the iPad mini is the best tablet ever made, because

Quite frankly, it's not.

I do feel the need to emphasize that I am a fan of Apple products but this is what really garages my mellow about it.

It's harder for other companies to innovate with their products. You don't have the financial security to take risks and try something new,

Well, Apple had that. Apple is everywhere. Their products are a household name, but they don't use any of that to their advantage. They don't take risks and they don't innovate.

Look at Maps. This was the big feature of iOS6 and ot was just plain trash. Something went wrong somewhere.

All along we were speculating about the iPhone 5 and we were spot on on its design, hardware and everything else. We already knew what we were going to get. And now that it's out. People don't really have much to say about it. People didn't really like it. And now here we are again.

promise us you won't buy 1? Apple will surely suffer.

Did Apple ever give a reason for not having retina? I mean, retina is like, a no-brainer. It still boggles my mind. You do legitimately feel a difference. I look at the iPad mini as an iPad 1 chopped in half.

And if they come out with a mini 2 with retina, I'm just going to say, "Nope, too late!"

Far more important things in life to boggle your mind with. It was because of price, weight due to battery life. iP Mini was released 1st gen for a price point of $170 less than a full size iP4. In reality the iP Mini is more of a 3/4 iPad at less than 1.8 inches smaller screen it really doesn't even appear that much smaller, especially when viewing movies in HD.

Let's hope iP5 has the same form factor iP Mini does, a full size 9.7 inch screen running with virtually no bezel will be sweet. And the next iPad Mini yes, Retina and a faster processor, but of course then you will all complain about the weight and the heat.

the same way Britannia no longer rules the waves.

I think the iPad mini is Apple's weakest offering. It doesn't live up to the iPad standard because it doesn't have a retina display. It's not as powerful as an iPhone because it isn't small enough.

There's not enough packed into it that makes it a desirable product. It's like most tablets that are release where it's a generation behind from the moment that it's released.

It's on the iPod touch standard now. It's there, but it's just not a flagship product. If you compare it to the Galaxy Note, it's not even as good because it has no calling capabilities.

You are a genius.

LOL! So you're saying that the full size iPad is more manly than the mini?

yes, yes i am

i would like to bet if there are any numbers or figures that most of the market for the mini are women and kids:)

It would actually be interesting if someone could get some figures on this - Oh, and also the whole "white iPhones are for girls" thing. It'd be good to see if it's actually true or not :D

just between the people i know who have iphones, i know 4 girls who have white iphones, 1 guy who has a white iphone and the others me, 3 other guys have black iphones, a mix of iphone 4 and 4s. im betting most girls have the white one :D

Purely a figment of your own manhood and straight up BS!

lol, angry post is angry? if we could get some actual number that would be awesome and i would be happy to be proved wrong. but im betting that more women and kids get the ipad mini than men, and thats not a bad thing, thats the market it caters to.

"Angry post" Not really if the shoe fits! I don't need to prove anything, I just call BS. I just love how folks say because something is small or white its feminine or for kids. I know plenty grown men who have white iPhones and even white iPad Mini's and I just don't buy that Apple put those out there to cater to women and kids. Provide the proof otherwise that is nothing but speculation.

Yeah, of course it's just speculation - But speculating is fun ;) It's just interesting, is all.

Out of the people that I know... This is including all iDevices: 2 guys with white iDevices, 4 guys with black iDevices, 2 girls with black iDevices and 1 girl with a white iDevice. So out of my group of friends there are slightly more guys with white iDevices  However of course it's far to small of a user-base to get reliable statistics from ;)

[EDIT: Some sort of survey where people could put in what colour iDevice they have and what their gender is, would be interesting.]

You are entitled to be wrong. Congrats!

Exactly! im wanting proof myself! :D:D i would be very interested indeed, but i would like to bet that more women & kids use ipad minis compared to men. thats all, a harmless bet :D im not calling out my assumption that apple put it out JUST for kids and women but, such a device attracts more of them than men, i would be very happy to be proved wrong :)

agreed, our sample is way too small to have any real conclusion lol but it would be so awesome to have a survey of which sex and age group owns what idevice and color

What about a white iPhone would make it for women? I'm a male and I have a white iDevice. iPhone iPad and the MacBook is also a light color.

The only people I have yet to see use an iPad mini is grown men and I've seen women and kids using full size iPads.

iPad 4 is the best most powerful tablet on the market today Period! If you want something small and compact with no power then buy the Mini Cooper.

I'm going to assume your right. I'm not sure that you are, but I'm going to assume it.
You do realise that the number of women and children in the world, out number, the number of men.
Also that their money is just as valuable as men's. If you're right it would explain why the mini out sells the regular iPad.
