What are some of the most famous ads of all time?
Im sure everyone recognizes Maxell
I think this is pretty recognizable...and famous at the same time.
Two that are probably among the most famous in the United States are government ones...
That stupid Reese's Pieces ad with ET ... made product placement popular and now it is silly out of hand.
I dont know how famous these are since they never really showed in america (hence "colour"). But they are brilliant and popular on teh internets with plenty of parodies
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPUzPA5VSnU&fmt=18 my favorite commercial of all time (one parody, another, even a political protest)
Much better in HD though.
if we're gonna do commercials...
The budweiser frogs...
Then there's the Grey Poupon commercials...
Super Bowl Go Daddy Ad.
the frogs reminded me of this since it was really popular with kids too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzbUPfoveok every kid that grew up in the 80s remembers the fast talking micromachines man.
I've got tons of kids stuff...
This is what kind of got me interested in graphic design as a little kid...unleashed my creative side.
...and who doesn't remember
The original iPod silhouette ads???
"I'd like to buy the world a coke..."
There's a great series on advertising at radio.cbc.ca called The Age of Persuasion. It is available by streaming audio but not by podcast.
There are a lot of not so famous ads that are quite amazing. A lot of them can be seen at www.frederiksamuel.com/blog. I enjoy that site and hope you will too.
The ad that consistently tops those best advert ever polls here in the UK is the Guinness Surfer ad.
Thanks for that site, klymr. Lots of good stuff there.
"Wheres the BEEF?"
"The Man in the Hathaway Shirt"
No problem. I love that site. I rolled through about 70-80 pages of stuff on there last night. Amazingly clever ads. Great for inspiration.
i like the hovis bread adverts in the UK, the sentimental part of me anyway! i used to like the *where is everybody* lunn poly adverts
