I'm going to have to go against the grain of the thread and say that I definitely would have liked an fm tuner to be built in to the iPhone. Sure there are streaming apps but I would love an fm tuner built into the iTunes or iPod app so I could stream in the background. Also could have opened up the possibility of a built-in fm transmitor to broadcast your iPhone onto the car stereo.

Some radio apps stream in the background even if you close the app down.

EDIT: No, wait, I'm lying... just remembered. They stream even if you lock the screen. That's all :)

I would have liked my new iPhone 3Gs to have doubled as an Intellivision controller. Multi-touch Burgertime? Come ON, that would rock.

Call me old school, but I also would have loved to see an FM tuner/transmitter. At the gym the audio for the video screens is sent out via various FM frequencies. That alone is reason enough.

But also in Minneapolis/St Paul we happen to have a great public radio station (The Current). Sure they stream, but I've always had probs with rebuffering. Would much prefer to listen on air.

Just sayin'...

+1

I just want to be able to listen to the TVs at my school's gym. Can the radio apps mentioned in this thread tune into any arbitrary FM frequency?

I don't think Apple should have included one in the iPhone, as not everyone would use it. I do think they should bring back the FM Radio remote. It worked great with my old iPod Nano. I'm sure some company will come out with one now that the dock connector and bluetooth are opened up to developers.

No Flash Support

This may ruffle some feathers but nothing bothers me more, even to this day, than when I surf to a site on my iPhone, any of my iPhones, that is a no go because we aren't down with Flash. :(

Most useless feature for me would be a FM tuner. In the past 2-3 phones I've never used this feature in the last 2-3 phones I owned which all had this feature.

Like someone else here said, use an app.

Haha, I figured this thread couldnt last very long without a flash support post. :) But he's right, it would be a nice addition.

Still waiting on the morse code device built into the iPhone. I need a way to talk to all my buddies, right? I do hope my dear friend Frank understands this technologically superior language. Also, I want my phone to dispense bird seed for my carrier pidgeons. Maybe some oats for my ponies?

(yes, I am aware there is an app for morse code.)

I think the biggest omission is lack of a built-in dot-matrix printer. I mean WTF Apple, how are we supposed to use a phone that doesn't include a dot-matrix printer??

Good God! This spelling challenged man (looked at your sig :p) has found the secret to invisiblity! Screw you Harry Potter and your cloak!!! It lies within the imagination! *Grabs weapons of mass destruction and heavily armed troops and official paper work that clearly states we are just invading the imagination for diplomatic peace and democracy in imagination land* "Lets go harvest us some invisibility!"

Just get a Hide-a-Pod. I'm sure an iPhone will fit in one too. No one would dare steal it then.

After all this rambling about an FM tuner being missing from the 3GS, I'm surprised no one brought up (unless I missed it) the iSuppli breakdown of the 3GS. The breakdown mentions the Broadcom Bluetooth/FM/WLAN chip which is currently being used in the 3GS. Link iSuppli 3GS Breakdown. Anyone have some insight on this piece of hardware?
