Only thing on our two iPhone 4's are the back plastic from the factory. Tab cut off from the bottom and the corner cut out around the camera. Nothing else on the phone. No issues.

I purposely dropped my phone from 1 foot up on a rug over hard wood. Nothing. I did a 2 foot test drop. Again, nothing. I moved it up to 4 feet. Nada. So, dropping it on a 1/2 thick rug on hardwood (no padding) results in - YOU GUESSED IT - no damage :D

Ok, ok. How about we test this in more realistic situations.

Meet me at the top.
Don't forget your phone. And make sure your insurance is up to date. :D

Naked since day one, no babying it. The back is perfect, somehow the front got a couple scratches on it, but oh well, its a phone, it happens.

whoops

So, I was drunk, holding the phone to my ear w/ my shoulder, and carrying two armfuls of stuff to the house ... and my naked phone slipped out from my shoulder (yea, dumb, I know), hit the inside of the car, bounced and hit the door, bounced and hit the inside of the car again, and then scraped all across the cement.

All I have is a scratch on the metal band part. Nothing on the glass, front or back. It was a really bad fall. I felt bad for the little guy ...

Wow, if you rock this phone without a case, your ***** stupid.

Well thats your opinion.
But this iPhone just looks to good to stick it in some case.
The bumper is the best of the bunch the rest of the cases I have seen in my opinion are butt ugly.

If it breaks I will buy another
And guess what next year there will be another.

Lol. I would be afraid to go up there I think. Too damn high and at those heights, you can feel the building move!

Naked phone here...no case...no screen protectors...I really like the clean lines and classic look. Perfect since June 23rd.

Here is my opinion on people who carry their iPhones (specifically the 4) naked. It's to be taken lightly.

Most of the people who carry their iP4's naked are all full of pride in thinking they are above all the shunned "clothed" iP4 owners. I personally put a case on the phone, not because I'm scared I might break it, but because there is always a CHANCE that something may happen. There is a CHANCE that something may happen that is completely out of your control, and then boom, or crack, or whatever, you have a shattered iPhone.

I would also like to add in a quick question for all the naked iP4 users. What do you tell other people who want to "see" or play with your phone? Do you take the snooty ****** approach and tell them no? Or do you place your phone, as well as it's protection (protection being yourself), into the hands of a possible klutz? It's a lose-lose situation the way I see it.

Of course, I am not bashing you naked iPhone users. You paid for the phone so ultimately you decide what happens to it. The point here is that no matter how careful you are, you are only one accidental drop away from a serious headache....Because we all know how much we love these phone ;)

Nobody touches my phone.

All very true. But I guess I like to live life on the edge. I let anyone (within reason) handle my naked iphone. I figure they know it's valuable and probably are holding it more carefully than I do. I'm not saying I'm not careful but how you treat something you hold 24/7 is different than when you are holding a very expensive/important/breakable item of a friend.

Naked also since day one. The case thing goes both ways...Ive had friends break their iphones while in cases and people who have broken it with none on. It all depends on the fall. If you drop it the right way, its going to break. Case or not.

100% scratch-free here. I got it on Launch Day and carry it naked 95% of the time, usually in my pocket. I actually examined it in the sun yesterday, and found not a mark.

:)
Same here, got a decal girl on it atm though. just put it on 2 days ago.

Well said. I agree, smartphones are vulnerable by nature. I simply do my best to be mindful & deliberate in how I handle my phones. Beyond that, it is what it is... :)

my iphone 3gs is scratch free, however i my ipad now has to little nics after it fell of the desk. Grr It was on the charging dock

Naked since day 1. Not a single scratch. I love the look of it, so I don't wanna put a crappy case on it. If I ever saw some amazing looking case, I would consider it. But I'm happy with it naked.

I figure worst case scenario: 199.99 apple replacement. So I'm good with that. 

Naked and no scratches or dings here.

My prior iPhones (original, 3G and 3GS) were also kept naked. The original one got pretty badly scratched up on the back (my phones share a pocket wiht other things, like keys/coins, at random), and the bezels and backs on the 3 and 3G are heavily scratched/hazed.

The screens are all unmarked however.

I expect the exposed steel on this iPhone 4 will have a few scratches or dings between now and whatever I get next as my primary phone.

At the end of the day, they're just tools - and comparatively easily replaced/repaired tools at that.

If you're using a case to protect the appearance (rather than the function) of a phone (which you're hiding in the process) then for god's sake NEVER buy a really nice pen, watch or a high-end car. You'll never use/wear/drive the bloody things if you're that worried over a few hundred dollars for a phone.

I don't carry my phone naked out of pride or some sense of eliteness. I hate cases. I don't want the extra bulk (even if it is minimal). They get in the way.

What would you do if you were working with a $2,500 camera lens? Drop that and it's guaranteed to be taking a trip to the manufacturer. And there is NO way to case/protect those things and still use them properly.

It's just a phone.

Exactly. :D

Life is too short. If it breaks, buy a new one. If it scratches, so what. There will be a new and improved model next year. Lol. Have fun with it.

I couldn't care less about what other iP4 owners do with their phones.

I have no problem letting others handle my phone.

The way I see it, it's going to be replaced in a year anyway so I might as well enjoy it naked.

I've had MORE problems BECAUSE of the bumper. Lots of little scratches and nicks. Pissed me off
