Apple seriously need to consider a two in one which the software experience transforms between tablet and laptop mode. Heck, they can do a three in one now you’ve seen the iPhone chip running on a mac.
I wish they -would- do it that way. I had a Dell 2-in-1 and Surface devices and Windows 8.1 was a great experience. Just their attempt at a modern app store sucked, and still does. But so does the Mac one. It still really seems better suited to mobile as a concept. As long as Apple doesn't implement things like Windows did with Windows 8.1. I had a Dell 2 in 1 years ago that came with W 8.1 and it was horrible in laptop mode and even worse in tablet mode.
This is a very strange sentence to me. Of course a laptop with full desktop OS will do everything you need? It’s literally a step above an iPad in terms of functionality.
I disagree with this. My iPad Pro M5 has a significantly better screen than the Neo. It also feels like a more personal device because you literally touch the content and can adjust it in bed or on the sofa ergonomically however you want it to. The convenience is the biggest reason for choosing the IPad over Neo. The 13 inch tandem OLED screen runs circles around the Neo screen. Frankly the iPad with a Magic Keyboard can do everything the Neo can anyway
There were comparisons in this thread on both. Even if you were to compare iPad Air to the Neo, some of these points will still stand. To be honest I don’t understand the point of Neo over iPad. The Neo is advertised as being capable of basis spreadsheet, word, basic video editing and web browsing which the iPad can already do but also being more convenient at the same time. The iPad Pro and Neo are nowhere near the same cost.
No, you are not the only one using it that way. I also use it outside sitting on the porch. I occasionally take it into the field/forest to get a picture of an unknown plant so I can run the plant ID program. Then there is the Merlin bird call ID program.Am I the only person on Earth who uses an iPad primarily the way Steve Jobs originally presented it? Sitting on the sofa in your living room and holding the Internet in your hand, consuming it like a book (not to mention, reading actual books)?
I think for $300, an iPad is a nice tool for watching video. Otherwise, it’s a ripoff when buying Air or Pro as they have Mac chips but cannot run MacOS. Just let those who want to install MacOS on iPad Pro and it would be amazing. It doesn’t matter that it was build for touch first, with a $400 keyboard don’t have to touch the screen and have trackpad and keyboard. Makes a great Mac, but terrible iPad experience for the price. The Neo is better at almost everything except the display is not as good or if one wants to write notes or create. So I guess most of us just kept buying iPad Pros expecting Apple to make sense of it, but it doesn’t. Here’s to hoping new CEO has some more brains.I feel the same way. Since getting the NEO, I honestly haven’t used my Apple iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) with the Apple Magic Keyboard at all, and I’ve only picked up my Apple iPad mini (7th generation) a few times over the past month—mainly just to play The Sims FreePlay.
The NEO has kind of become my go-to device because it handles the everyday stuff so easily, and for basic productivity tasks it just feels more practical. I never expected it to replace my iPads as much as it has, but that’s exactly what happened.
With Cook promoted to executive director, I don’t see the iPad being a MacBook replacement.I think for $300, an iPad is a nice tool for watching video. I agree Apple_Robert. That logic, when applied to just about anything, can often reveal underlying truths and issues that would help solve so many of our current-day struggles. In my opinion, you are missing a very fundamental point. The fundamental point has 2 parts. The first part is buying the right tool for today's use. The second part is using the right tool for a specific point in time, whether it is 5 minutes or 5 days.
The fact that you now see the Neo as your one device salvation tells me that you had been using the wrong tool for the job, or you had the right tool but, were trying to use it primarily as a different tool, which does nothing more than cause resentment and frictional use.
