Hopefully this will remove any confusion about how much the icons changed. I don't like how the iPod icon isn't aligned anymore. Also, for some reason, the new Messages icon moved horizontally for some reason.

Break's over eh?? Knew you couldn't make it til June. :D

I think they all look better with this change. Maybe it's a steady progression: when the diagonal liines are no longer visible, all bugs have been resolved. Or something....

Q. Does it really matter?

A. Not even slightly...

How about NOT coming into a thread and being an ******* because of who the OP is?

Good idea lostprophet!! *pats self on back*

I think the progression is interesting.

interesting insight into attention to detail for sure.

other than that as long as the button works when i press it.. I'm happy.

Icons mean a lot more to me than just a picture I click on. If the icon looks bad, it takes away from the overall beauty of the interface, and then it takes away from the beauty of the entire phone. Apple will get it all sorted out before 3.0 final.

Do you have this problem attention to detail on you computer? I can only imagine how much work you get done...

well to all intents and purposes they look pretty much the same, seeing as I've not used either BETA, I personally won't notice a difference.. I don't think either set look particularly unsightly.

Strange that you should mention that. My job involves paying close attention to graphical detail, so yes, I get plenty of work done. I also have the privilage of using Macs at work, Macs at home, all of my friends have Macs and so does my girlfriend. I'm a rather lucky guy I guess. If Apple didn't have the attention to detail that I have, the iPhone OS wouldn't be as nice as it is... I'm pretty confident that Apple will fix it up nicely. There's still a ton of GUI glitches in beta 2, but they're probably pretty low on immediate priority.

I like the new iPod one, I think. Seems like it 'pops' a bit better.

And overall, I like the diagonal lines too - makes it seem more like a "button" and less like just a glossy image. To me, anyhow.

I agree... the more subtle stripes look better. They were too harsh before. I like the iPod icon, I just think they need to move it back down 1 pixel again. Hehehe.

IT IS STILL A BETA!!

There, I feel better now.

Umm... we know... We're just discussing the most recent changes. Relax man. When beta 3 comes out, we'll discuss the changes to that.

Why the ipod icon have a clickwheel anyway...? Ahhh! Because the user must know what an ipod classic to locate his music.

The icons are not-so-beauty as the first iteration. wait - how a guy that don't know what an ipod is, can reach the music section? Is miss-leading, contra-intuitive, very apple.

What should it be - a music note?

I think the idea is that an 'iPod' plays music, podcasts and videos - not necessarily things that can all be represented by a music note.

What? Everyone knows what an iPod looks like. Plus it's called "iPod"... it's not even called Music. An icon that says "iPod" that displays an iPod on it makes sense to me. I suppose they could use the "Music" icon from the iPod touch and re-name it to "Music" on the iPhone, but they won't.
