Strange that you should mention that. My job involves paying close attention to graphical detail, so yes, I get plenty of work done. I also have the privilage of using Macs at work, Macs at home, all of my friends have Macs and so does my girlfriend. I'm a rather lucky guy I guess. If Apple didn't have the attention to detail that I have, the iPhone OS wouldn't be as nice as it is... I'm pretty confident that Apple will fix it up nicely. There's still a ton of GUI glitches in beta 2, but they're probably pretty low on immediate priority.

Nice try, spaz. ;)

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (white): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/7A259g Safari/525.20)

I'm sure you do, spaz. ;)

I know you're just playing with me. Hah.

Why the ipod icon have a clickwheel anyway...? Ahhh! Because the user must know what an ipod classic to locate his music.

The icons are not-so-beauty as the first iteration. wait - how a guy that don't know what an ipod is, can reach the music section? Is miss-leading, contra-intuitive, very apple.

The phone icon looks nothing like any phone I've seen made in the last few years.

But I bet people can recognize what it is anyway. Every icon doesn't have to be the absolute, most literal, modern version of the thing it's representing.

What? Everyone knows what an iPod looks like. Plus it's called "iPod"... it's not even called Music. An icon that says "iPod" that displays an iPod on it makes sense to me. I suppose they could use the "Music" icon from the iPod touch and re-name it to "Music" on the iPhone, but they won't.

Why they won't? =D aha this is funny.
iPod is a synomnym of music only in the Apple-fantasy-world. Someday they will slap an :apple: sticker in your face when buying an iphone, and you won't even bother.

So if you were handed an iPhone and asked to play some music on it, you wouldn't be able to know, instantly, which icon to press? Tell me you're not really that clueless!

The GUI should let us change the icons to whatever the F we want!!!! Seriously, we have a mini computer in our hands and can't customize the icons? I love 3.0, but the think I miss most about it is actually the ability to customize the look. It keeps it interesting.

Spaz would be happier too because he could just go in and create new icon art for himself.

i associate an iPod (another apple-product) to music. But thats because i'm special. There are people not-so-special as i.

But there's more. on your computer iTunes is your music player. On iPhone "iTunes" is the iTMS. it's a jungle.

I'm sure Apple will be happy to hear that you approve of their GUI design!

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to take that as sarcasm or whatnot... but, you can't take design and just throw it out the window... design is much more important than a lot of people think. I think people take advantage of graphic design and don't realize that it adds to the overall good experience. I don't think we give Apple enough credit for their unique sense of graphic design and I think the iPhone's OS interface is the best there is out there. I've seen plenty of smartphones and none even come close to the GUI on the iPhone.

I'm actually inclined to agree, because I don't really like to buy apps from the app store that have an ugly icon... Should I seek help? Haha

I'm the same way... crappy icon=crappy app. If the developer couldn't put any thought into the icon, why would I want to use their app? I've noticed also that an app with a beautiful icon, also has a beautiful interface with a professional, high quality feel and performance. Some examples:

Sketches
Wallet
iStat
BeeJive
Tuner

To name a few.

Personally, I'm not superficial enough to get in a wad over icons. I'd much prefer an App that works well that doesn't have the best icon in the world over one with a beautiful icon but less than stellar performance.

That's what I'm saying in a way. I more likely to try an app that has a nice icon and interface. It shows that the developer wants to deliver a near-Apple-quality experience and that's what I like from my third party apps. I want everything on my iPhone to look like they belong together instead of having a 1st page full of really nice apps, and then the rest full of crApps (crap apps). That's the way I feel anyway. I only have 1.5 screens of Apps and I'm happy with that. There's just no sense in downloading and using everything.

Here's a little story: My brother used to have about 6 pages of apps (and so did my cousin). A few days ago, I was hanging out with my bro and my cuz and I looked at their iPhones and they only had a few apps now.... so I asked them, what's the deal with getting rid of all your other apps... they both said that they found that they weren't using them and they were mostly just for show-off purposes. When the AppStore first came out... I downloaded lots of "cool" apps to show off what my phone could do, but after a while, I found it to be annoying to have those apps installed on my iPhone ALL THE TIME... so what I do is I delete them until the special occasion comes where I want to show them to someone or I want to mess around with it.

Moral of my stories... I'd rather have a few high quality apps, than 100 crappy looking apps littering my iPhone.

I have 6 pages of Apps (I use 15 per screen to have room move stuff around. I have a few duplicates (several music players) and a half screen of games but I use most every app I have loaded at least once a week.

I have more when on a trip but keep them deactivated. With 1.5 pages of Apps, you sound like a casual user so the look might be more important. But if you are a power user, looks come after functionality.

And all of that said, I don't really have any apps with icons that would make me not want to use them. Some are better than others but it's what is under the skin that counts for me.
