I would say yes. Does anyone really see an issue with the font type? Its insane! Never mind the craziness is entertaining........proceed.

I would say no but seriously, everyone was screaming the font was too thin. They made it thicker and people are diving off cliffs. If you don't like it don't update.
Some were complaining that the new font was too thin for them, when they made it thicker others who perhaps liked the thinner font can certainly have similar feelings about it being changed to something that they don't really like. Doesn't really seem all that strange, does it?

If you really don't care about it one way or another, you can easily skip threads about it without any trouble at all. Much simpler than essentially doing anything else, like actually taking time to read those threads, get upset for some reason, and even spend the time and effort posting in them.

I like the close observations, thanks for posting them...

I look forward to the clean up, Apple mostly cares about these things. We should see steady improvements.

Oh I'm not upset. I find it comical. I also find 53 threads about the same thing humorous

It really bugs me that some of the icons are 1/50 of a centimeter smaller than others. I can't sleep at night its so bad. I find myself measuring all night. Its consuming me.:D

If Apple felt it important enough to address by changing the font, I think it's important enough for us to discuss it :p

Interesting thread. Personally I think the bigger font in the update makes it look better, but I could definitely see some people having issues with it.

I agree with the OP. I preferred the lighter weight of the font from beta 1 & 2 and now with different things being different weights it feels messy. The thinner text gave it a more modern feel. Hopefully this is improved in the next few betas.

Man I don't get this site. When beta 1 and 2 came out we had all these posts about how the font was too thin and causing legibility issues and eye strain. Now Apple makes the font thicker and people complain that they liked the thinner font better and thicker font is ugly and inconsistent. On top of that we still have people complaining that Apple ruined iOS by going to this "flat" design (not sure if they consider this thicker font "flat" or not). If anything is inconsistent it's the complaining here.

I guess you haven't spent much time on Internet forums. It's just the nature of the beast. :)

I think an argument can be made that they just don't pay attention to details the way they once did. So that's why iOS 7 is a big mess. It's like a hodgepodge of ideas thrown out there. But not really tightly integrated. Sort of like Samsung touchwiz, where the UI is a mixture of diff thing that don't mesh very well.

No. I wonder if you have actually used it. A great deal of attention to detail was put into iOS 7. They simply addressed the thin font complaints by making it thicker.

Now I believe if they didn't change it somebody would have complained that Apple does not listen to people.

So you're saying everyone in the world should have the same opinion about everything? LMAO!:rolleyes:

Time for a Sticky?

Oh I'm not upset. I find it comical. I also find 53 threads about the same thing humorous

If there are 53 threads about the same thing shouldn't one of them be sticky so that posters don't have to go dumpster diving to try and find previous ones?

I think their are actually 54... oops now 55... 56?

I didn't realise that it was possible to measure whether the `majority` of iOS users are those who complain on t'internehts, let alone to measure the iOS 7 install base.

Not trying to be pedantic, just a point :)

The userbase here isn't even a sliver of Apple's customer pool. Not even 0.0000002%, and there were MAYBE a few dozen complaining about the font. So...basic deductive reasoning and...I think it's fair to say the *majority* did not have a problem with the font? Why is that unfair to assume?

No.

From what I read, the OP wasn't complaining about a preference towards light fonts or thick fonts, only a preference towards consistency across the platform with whichever weight is adopted.

To me it just changes the entire 'feel' they were going for using Ultra Thin font. Typography has its own industry and businesses put a lot of emphasis on font choice to stress a psychological effect of a consumer.

If they wanted to use a heavier-based font, they should just use a different font, because the one they are using isn't designed for it. It doesn't look right, IMO.
