I called up apple customer support as my iPad order was still saying "processing ". They assured me everything was fine and the order was active n ensured the
Status would be updated in the coming days. I complained how poor the service was, and for that they offered a free leather smart cover ! I accepted it as I forgot to order one alongside the new iPad !
And once I hung up I checked if the order has been updated with the smart cover, where the status of my iPad order read "preparing for shipment" along with the free smart cover . God bless apple .

Mine is sitting 20 miles from my house for future delivery. I just got the notice that it "shipped" today from that spot 20 miles from my house. I didn't read this whole thread but it sounds like these were shipped before pre-orders were even started?
20 miles away and still have to wait for the 16th that would suck. Seems like they are processing randomly instead of when the orders came in
There won't be a problem having your items shipped to a smallish town. The day of delivery will be the same as if you had it sent to a large city, but the time of day might be later, though. It just depends on the service area of the town. To what small town are you having it shipped, if you mind me asking?

Got my black leather smart cover on the 9th, told myself I wouldn't even open it till the iPad got here......sort of made it, I opened the shipping box, left the cover in the retail packaging though......

I opened mine and it reeks of something. I think I am going to leave it out for a few days before the iPad gets here. I put it back up in the original packaging for now.
Even if the Day 1 orders were coming from China (they are not), this would still be a major fail at humor.

Ya think? They were staged at FedEx hubs then shipped to your local FedEx warehouse when you ordered.
Remember the reports of mysterious shipments from China a week or so ago that had monopolized all the cargo planes? No, you probably don't.

I'm guessing you'll get your notification soon. I talked to someone who ordered it at 5:45PM EST, and he got his shipping notification this morning.
