A couple of the videos I saw yesterday where people were running tests mentioned that the fan's sound signature was loud/annoying.
Reading ifixit teardown of new Pro and few things looks confusing. They mention speakers are reduced in size. Is the sound quality lower now? They were referring to 2016 model but are earlier released 2018/2019 models also with reduced size speaker or is this something unique to latest "cheap" Pro? Especially interesting to hear if sound quality of new cheap 13" Pro is the same as in previous 2018/2019 13" models.

Also they mention that battery is glued. It cannot be replaced without replacing the whole top cover? I understood that even Air 2018 had glue strips that can be pulled off to release the battery and replace it without replacing the whole top cover. If so that is a big minus considering the battery quality these days where they can be weak from the start. Is there information is cheap Pro battery rated for 500 or 1000 charge cycles? I checked Apple web site documents but this model is not yet listed there (I bet it is not 1000 cycle battery in this model since the battery is not the same as in previously released 2019 TB model).

Also cooling seems to be one fan solution but it looks like heat pipe is used instead of passive heat sink for cpu + case fan.

Not really. The 2015 13" used a 28W CPU and it had a full connectivity implementation. The base 2019 13" is still using the 15W CPU and the cut-down connectivity. Yes, its a much better buy, but it also represents a cleft in features where previously we didn't have one.
Dual vs. quad core though.

The only real differences are the processor class, 128GB vs. 256GB, and two ports vs. four.
I've seen the OS on its own take up as much as half of this (system files, memory swap file, system and app cache files all consume space on the SSD) and unless you want to carry around a bulky external drive, the remaining half will fill up fast simply from storing photos, videos, apps and other data that accumulates during normal use. 128 GB isn't enough for any new laptop Mac in 2019, because it means constant concern regarding what is on the SSD and what can be removed to save space which is not an experience any new Mac buyer deserves.
[doublepost=1562947902][/doublepost]It's 2019. SSD prices have fallen by a good amount. We should be discussing whether 512 GB should be standard on the MacBook Pro in 2020, not 256 GB.

Of course! There is no question that the updated base 13" is much more "pro" than the 2017 one. But the CPU is more or less a drop-in replacement. It's not like Apple is giving you that much more for the money.

yes, ipads can run ios or ipadOS not macOS or windows OS or VM
So this value makes the ipads not so great anymore, portable cheaper macbook pro for work. For casual consumer device things, the ipad is still unbeatable

It's good value compared to the low end MacBook Pro it replaced, but no one can justify that it represents value for money because it doesn't.

Can you elaborate? Price-wise, it compares favourably to the competition, while outperforming most of it in terms of GPU and battery. I think it's great value for money.

********. You should hang up your moderator hat. One post is nothing, but your constant bashing and bias against Mac is crap and you know it.
Sorry if I do not blindly follow apple. I am a member who helps moderating and I am permitted to have independent opinions and thoughts. If don't like what I post, move on.

Btw, I offer a lot of praise on other apple products, I also help plenty of members here, either choosing a configuration for the MBPs or helping with problems. You seemed to ignore those posts

Not that I need to justify my existence here, but I own an iMac, homepod, iPhone, Apple watch and an iPad. I think that qualifies me as an apple fan. Just because I have opinions that is counter to yours means I should not post or I ought to resign is just plain silly.

All in all, I'm not going anywhere so relax and let everyone have the freedom to post their own opinions.

My perspective or at least use of the iPad is to supplement my laptop usage. I think people will still be gravitating towards iPad when they can, simply because carrying the tablet is a lot easier then a laptop.

From a performance standpoint, it appears this machine offers quite a bit more for the money even compared to the old 2015 28W dual core model.

The way I view my MBP purchase is that it's going to be my last laptop before I finally go all iPad. Hopefully Apple complies.

Best Buy has the 2018 MBP 256 for $1549. I'd buy one of those over the new lower cost MBP.
I wouldn't. I can get the new one for 1285 after tax and get a free pair of 350 dollar headphones that I can easily flip for 200.

What differences did you notice after upgrading to the latest unit? I still adore my Mid '14 MBP Retina, but I would like to know the differences.

The build quality is the first thing I noticed. I got the space gray model and I love the darker color. It feels and looks very premium. Then the weight. The new mbp is a lot lighter than my 2015 mbp. My favorite feature is the display. It looks waaaay better on the new mbp. TrueTone is awesome. And I think even the bezels are smaller. The touch bar is pretty sweet and customizable. I downloaded Pock to make it even more custom. The new mbp is a lot faster than my 2015 mbp which I didn't think was possible. Quad-core processor, maybe? My biggest concerns were the battery and the keyboard which is why I didn't upgrade for four years but the article on the front page confirms that the new mbp has a larger battery and and improved keyboard. I got used to the keyboard really quickly. It's really 'clicky' if that makes sense. It kind of feels like the stock keyboard an iMac uses. I'm happy the keyboard is still backlit for night time. I'm really happy I upgraded after four years. The only con I can think of is the lack of inputs. Hope that helps.

What do you mean? Are you expecting something different then what's in the other models?

The TB and nTB had different deployments. 2x2 in the nTB and 3x3 in the TB.
So all things being equal the previous TB has 50% more bandwidth available than the nTB and Air.
