Less money, performance is near that of the current machine. Better keyboard, and ports that don't require a mess of dongles.

Ah, so that was you I saw drivning an 84 Datsun. Kidding aside I see your point but the excitment level in buying last years gear is just so low. My point is that if stickning to contemporary stuff as options to this one I don't see any. No one would be happier than me to be proven wrong here.

See thats an interesting thing you said there about excitement level. The more I read here the more I realise there are two different kinds of buyers - those buying because its it new or has some excitment level, and those buying because they have needs to fill/a job to do. I suspect this is why there are such polarised views on this new machine.

Agree, and the getting the job done should be as frustration free as possible. The video captures the frustrating aspects that were encountered quite well.

So there's a bug; and a rather strange one. Considering lots of people have these, if it is universal, we will be hearing about it soon enough.

apple.com beat me to it - check the reviews of the OFFICIAL adapter! http://www.apple.com/shop/reviews/MJ1K2AM/A/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter

Matches my experiences with this one exactly. Several people stated I was using the wrong adapter or misconfiguring it - whether at 1080p 60 hz or 720p 30 hz(really low end), it did the same thing that people are describing is happening in the official adapter reviews.

1) He uses 100 words where 5 would suffice which makes it almost unbearable
2) So, if the macbook pro is so worthless, what's a better alternative? Lenovo? What a joke. Dell? Can they even spell quality assurance? HP? I mean come on.

I like the video he did comparing old thinkpad to new ones but this is just too much "show" and too little substance.

The older A1502!! The 2015 model has close graphics performance, and almost identical regular app CPU performance. The SSD has good enough speed, the screen is fine. All you lose out on with the old one is terrible speakers. The new one really spanks the old one on the speaker quality.

I'd even argue a 2013-2014 A1502 is fine. All that changed in the 2015 model is different model LCD(that looks the same), and a faster SSD. But do you really need 2 GBps instead of 1 GBps with the SSD? If not, then the 2013-2014 A1502 is fine, and you don't need the 2015 edition. You can snag these refurbished from trusted vendors(not eBay/amazon garbage) for $800-$900. Very good deal, all options that keep you on OSX & in Apple's ecosystem. The 2015 model can still be bought with 3 years of applecare!

In terms of Lenovo being a joke - no, liquid resistant laptops you can spill a gallon of water into while they're on and encoding video without a crash or problem in contrast to a machine whose power button can be ruined with mere humidity - eh, too much to even get into here. ;)

This is exactly right. Last time they refreshed, I grabbed a 2014 top spec from BH for $1800. I'll still reserve judgement until I can try the new one in store, but I'll likely do that again with the 2015 model, if I can't find a Windows PC I like.

Man that guy does my head in. Like every video is about how much he hates Apple, yet he seems to spend a lot of his time fixing Apple devices which I gather provide some form of income... I thought he was okay when I first saw him, but watch a few videos, the guy's a total butt hurt!

He seems to have a love affair with ThinkPads, I remember one video he was criticising MacBooks and saying his ThinkPad was better, because he could drop it off ladders and it still worked... Like okay... And he went on to suggest that again, the ThinkPad is better as he had one with an extended battery, which he could grip with his hand. So the ThinkPad is better because he could hold it with one hand, and type with the other, and went on to demo him walking around the shop holding it in this way. Who does this?! Why would anyone criticise a laptop because you can't walk around with it typing?

Just no, got fed up with his delusional rants that made no sense. Laptops break, all laptops break at some point, even Macs, he knows this which is why he does it for a living. I mean does he seriously want everything to be bullet proof? Does he want to be out of a job? Idiot.

I would be happy to drive a 2015 Tesla P100D over a 2016 Telsa 70

I didn't have the time to watch the whole video. Are the issues related to third party cables or are they to device/driver issues? Better off buying Apple official adapters and cables to avoid problems or is it a bigger problem than that?

If I follow your logic, stockholders in CXW should pray for more drug related shootings so their company isn't "out of a job." Should those who invest in & staff the prison hope for more crime in their local community in return for financial security? Would they be "idiots" for encouraging positive change in society regardless of how it will affect their short term income?

This type of mentality will lead the world to ruin. I understand that you cannot comprehend how/why these three facts are simultaneously true:

1) I make a living repairing Apple products.
2) I spend large amounts of my free time showing end consumers and other repair facilities(the "competition") how to repair Apple products so they don't have to spend money with me.
3) I spend time going over design flaws in Apple's products so they can correct them with the next generation, giving me less opportunity to profit from these design flaws.

In your world where one must be motivated only by short term gains earned by hiding knowledge, yes this idiotic. Luckily, the real world just doesn't work that way. It aint such a straight path with direct cause & effect. What you put out is what you get back and it doesn't always come back to you in the narrow pathway people expect it to. My satisfaction with my life, as well as my bank account, to this point, reflect my assertion that I made the right decisions. If being well off financially and waking up happy makes me an idiot then hell. Take me to dick's last resort next time I'm in vegas and have them print me a cap. I'll be a card carrying member of the club ;)

It would indeed be beneficial if they didn't use glue to hold together parts of a machine that are right next to an exhaust vent for hot air. It would be beneficial if the same buck converter with failing tantalum cap weren't used three years in a row. And yes, it would be beneficial to put together something that can utilize a USB 3 HDMI capture device & wifi at the same time. We point out these failings in the hope that Apple will improve - the same way we point out Lenovo's failings in designing newer laptops with mutilated trackpads, poor quality LCDs, built in spyware and a god awful set of function keys. One can argue I have gone harder on Lenovo than I have on apple, and it's because I want to see improvement.

If we never point out what is wrong, then we have no right to ever expect better. I'd rather be a part of the positive change I want to see in the world; but to you your own if you feel that teaching recycling centers, reverse logistics firms, and general electronics hackers how to fix their own expensive devices makes you an idiot. You keep that to yourself and never encourage the manufacturers to do better. Never show someone else how to follow in your footsteps and successfully perform a repair that gives them a feeling of accomplishment & ability to add to their income; you do what you need to do man to stay "smart" by your specific standards. ;)

This was my exact reaction as I watched that horrible video of him ranting.

He hates apple because he knows exactly how these devices are made and how they work.

Well I appreciate the reply but I don't think laptop repairs equate to the same logic as crime or pharmaceuticals. I also was not suggesting that teaching or educating would in some way put you out of a job, although it's good to know you are 'Well off' from your endeavours. I was merely pointing out the futility of constantly criticising laptop products as a bit off. Not that you should hold onto all your knowledge and never share...

What I was trying to point out was the mentality in which you criticise, again I have only seen a few videos, but from what I have seen there seems to be a large amount of criticism over engineering of the products. I fail to see how pointing these things out to an audience on YouTube benefits manufacturers. I don't think I've ever seen an offer of alternative solutions, and you appear to not fully explain the compromise. As in "I can see what they've done here, they've used X because of X limitations. However, they could have used Y to provide a better system, which maintaining X limitations." would be a nice thing, educational, and smart. Simply suggesting "They've used terrible hinges, just awful, why would they do this?" is not particularly educational, and appears more 'Ranty'. Please, link me a video of you giving a more caring approach and I will watch it, I am not suggesting you do not do this, just that I haven't seen it. But surely you can understand what I mean here?

The other issue I have again with this compromise, is that I understand (I'll use Apple as an example, just because we're here) that Apple are a large company, with many engineers and designers all working together to make something. Compromise must happen, it's these teams working together to get the best solution to work. It may not be the most optimal solution to a problem, but it is a feasible one that strikes a good balance between the two.

Now I understand that you are an engineer, and so you're priority is going to be in the engineering side of things. I am a designer, and would rather have it look and feel like a nice experience. If these things are left solely to the engineers, you would have a huge block of a device, weighed far too much, and was exceptionally solid. If this was down to the designer, you'd have a paper thin sheet of glass that fell apart the moment you picked it up. Balancing these two fields together is what creates the best compromise and the best product.

So please, personally, I'd just like to see more design respect in your solutions. How would you do something that would maintain the current design? Would you have to increase size of anything to do this?

This is meant to be some constructive criticism and not an offensive reply, and I hope I've made sense here.

Thank you.
