As far as MLB goes, I think if their performance lives up to their pocketbook, the Yankees will make many trips to the World Series in the next decade. Heck, they just spend nearly a half a billion dollars on 3 players. Salary cap, anyone?

NY yankees have been unlucky with cash equaling world series of late, but that trend will have to reverse at some time.

Not that this makes me their fan, it's only if you keep getting Other people's top players, at some point those other teams will have a disadvantage. Legally the NFL gets around it with the bonus system and a $12 mil a year Indy player ends up getting $31 million. (Dwight Freeney/Colts, Jared Allen/Vikings who may end up with more.)

Same with NFL coaches. Cowher with Browns, for instance, but final number remains to be seen ... ( www.nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/11/20/browns-linked-to-bill-cowher-again/ )and we will see if there is a happy number. Niners should have got Jimmy Johnson but we were too cheap. :)

So the "true" numbers of an American baseball player must be astounding.
